I have read the posts as to why the colts would want to have Dee Milner visit them including trading up in case he slips or doing their homework for the future when he comes off his rookie contract or is available via trade (see Vonte Davis). That makes perfect sense.
However, what puzzles me is what is in it for Dee Milner? Why would he take the time to visit with the team holding the number 24 pick. Thats not in the same zip code as his talent. He is projected in most mocks to go number 6 to Cleavland and has been steady top 10 in all mock drafts I have seen. He has no sour buzz regarding off field issues or long term health concerns. Why stop in Indy?? I know Lane Johnson did same but that was prior to his steady rise up the draft charts so it made sense for both parties. No way Milner lasts past number 10 IMO.
I can only think of two things:
1) he wanted time with the preeminent CB coach in the league
2) the colts made a compelling argument to him and his agent that they would trade up to the 9-13 range if Milner is there.
It may have been a combination of both. But part of me thinks that Pags sees a rare lockdown corner and is ready to jump at a very high cost to get him. If we do jump, I would be on-board even with stiff price if Pags thinks he is a rare talent. In the end, not sure he will drop, but its another reason to be excited about this draft.
