I thought I'd take a run at a mock draft (sorry to all those who are sick of them). The criticism most will have with this draft is that there are needs greater than the positions chosen early in the draft. I realize that, but believe you have to go best player available early in the draft.
Round 1: Xavier Rhodes. I'd like to pick an offensive lineman or an outside linebacker at this spot, but I'm not sold on any of the options that might be available. I like the options in these areas later in the draft. Rhodes, if he is available, would likely be the best player on the board. You can never have enough good defensive backs.
Round 3: Da'Rick Rogers. People will be screaming that we don't need a receiver, but we need an outside receiver who can take Reggie's place. Rogers has character concerns, but he is one of the most physically gifted receivers in the draft and the Colts have the locker room to keep him in line. The CBS Sports draft site calls him "a virtual Julio Jones clone." For a third round pick, that's pretty good.
Round 4: Trevardo Williams. The Colts need a pass rusher. Williams could be a solid option with good upside. He was a productive player in college and the Colts have shown interest.
Round 6: Micah Hyde. I know, another defensive back. I really like Hyde and think he could make a major push for playing time. Considering the injury history of Toler, having some extra DBs wouldn't be a bad idea.
Round 7: Eric Herman. This guy is big (6'4", 320 lbs) and strong (36 reps in the bench). He could win a spot as a starting guard.
Round 7: Travis Bond. Another big offensive guard. He and Herman could battle for a spot on the roster.
