The rookie minicamp begins today, meaning that Chuck Pagano and his assistants will get an up-close look at the young players they either drafted or signed as collegiate free agents. There's also a healthy list of players who are using the rookie minicamp as a "try out" for the Colts, promoting the sense of competition that Pagano and general manager Ryan Grigson value.
Along with the 24 guys on the Colts roster competing at this weekend’s rookie minicamp, the Colts will have 13 tryout players in as well.— Kevin Bowen (@KBowenColts) May 10, 2013
Who are those 13 "tryout" players? We don't know because no official list exists online.
The players we do know who are trying out for the team are kicker Mike Josifovski (Marian), defensive end Jordan Bright (Indiana St.) and safety Nick Driskill (Mount Union). LB Shawn Loiseau is another tryout player noted by Tom James of the Tribune Star.
Undrafted rookies who are signed and will attend are:
- Sheldon Price, CB, UCLA
- Daxton Swanson, CB, Sam Houston Stat
- C.O. Prime, LB, Wagner College
- Dan Moore, FB, Montana
- Rodrick Rumble, WR, Idaho State
- Lanear Sampson, WR, Baylor
- Brandon McManus, K, Temple
- Denodus O’Bryant, RB, Lindenwood University
- Emmett Cleary, OT, Boston College
- Nigel Malone, CB, Kansas State
- Rick Schmeig, OC, Purdue
Also participating in rookie minicamp are veterans Jabin Sambrano (WR), Davin Meggett (RB), and Robert Griffin (the guard, not the quarterback).
