During this slow and tumultuous time of no football any NFL related news becomes a story, well according to Espn. I happened to hear last week that RGKnee had his wedding registry made public by the Washington Post and Bed Bath and Beyond. This isn't the problem I have with him per se. It's the fact that he has a registry to begin with. It mostly serves the purpose to help young newlyweds get items that a 'normal' young budding couple might be too strapped for cash to afford.
I'm guessing RG3 would possibly be the wealthiest person at his wedding. That's not a stretch of the imagination. If I was the richest person at my wedding I wouldn't ask for my guest to bring anything but themselves. To further the reason for me being on this soapbox is because he had the nerve to pose in front of all gifts like he's some sort of Boss!
It caused an uproar to which he responds anyone having a problem with him accepting the gifts is a hater. Yes, I do understand no one forced any of his fans to buy him anything. It's the fact he had the audacity to keep the gifts instead of turning at least some over to charity. What really chaps my arse is that people were knocking down the doors at the BB&B here in DC and Georgetown to buy him a gift to simply be associated with Griffin yet donating to the needy doesn't have the same appeal. In my humble but outspoken opinion it was classless. To be honest as a black man it furthered the stereotype that all our race does is accept handouts. Smh. Thanks for reading though guys. I also apologize if the HTML format isn't correct.
