I don't know about you, but I get very confused when analysts say that the Colts
did not improve much during the offseason. Although we didn't bring in as big of names as expected during FA, we did upgrade many positions, and this only continued in the draft. It is very realistic that we could have 8 new starters from pickups this offseason (out of 22) for the 2013 season, and that is without giving up any top tier players in FA (Freeney was not even close to top tier as an OLB). Here are the 8 positions where we could see improvement:
> = improvement
>> = major improvement
WR2: DHB > Avery
RT: Cherilus >> Justice
RG: Thornton > McGlynn
LG: Thomas >> Reitz
DE: RJF > Moala
OLB: Werner > Freeney (plus Walden > Hughes)
SS: Landry >> Zibby
CB2: Toler > Powers (Especially in man coverage)
Doesn't count, I know, but NT: Chapmam >> Mookie
On top of all of these improvements, I can't think of any area where we got worse.
That looks like a greatly upgraded team to me. Am i missing something, or are we just flying under the radar?
