With the Ahmad Bradshaw signing, there has been a good amount of calls for cutting Donald Brown or Delone Carter. While there obviously are only so many roster spots, I think great consideration needs to be given to one simple thought - - if Bradshaw goes down in week two, then what would our backfield look like? Would it be the sure thing that it now appears to be with this mufti-faceted contributor taking a hand off, blocking, or fading into the secondary for a pass? It seems that in that unfortunate scenario we would view the RB position a sudden area of weakness if we jettison Brown.
If forced to choose the back most likely to be injured, I would have to choose Bradshaw. This makes the question of who gets cut all the more compelling. This isn't a new debate, and I don't think it is fundamentally changed by the addition of Bradshaw because of his injury history. We should retain a change of pace back which is Brown represents on this team. He is capable of a home run at any time with his speed. Careful with that axe or you might lose something (or someone) you need later.
