For the first time in quite a long time, the off season has been a very exciting time to be a Colts fan. It was not too long ago that the Colts front office was resigned to just draft new guys and hope that they perform. With that being said, for the most part they did and did it on the cheap. We enjoyed a kind of success that not too many teams can say they had.
Now enter Ryan Grigson and a team devoid of talent and he's doing the same thing, except he has something that Polian rarely had....money. Last year he found jewels in the rough like Freeman from the CFL and other cast offs that made me think hey this guy isn't bad. Of course it didn't hurt that he took over a team that like Polian was afforded the luxury of a once in a lifetime QB like Peyton Manning to Polian as Andrew Luck is to Grigson.
However, this off season was different, Grigson has money to spend. I grew tired of the era of Colts teams where a free agent would hit the market and I always said, "God if the Colts got him, our team would be a monster". Now Grigson has essentially mixed the philosophy of Polian as well as injected a lot of Irsay's money to field this new team we have.
True they are yet to step on the field and actually show what we all think they can be...a contender for the AFC South title and maybe with a little "Luck" the AFC representatives in the Super Bowl? I'm optimistic...some would say heavily optimistic that the monster that Coach Pagano describes is actually wearing white and blue and making people think that these Colts, our Colts are legitimate Super Bowl contenders!
