In a game that will always haunt me because a sophomore Left Tackle who played his ass off for the entire game except for the last play where Clowney beat him around the edge to get a strip/sack on Tyler Bray to win the game I had the opportunity to watch the last pick in the NFL draft work over my college's defense. Now I know that most of you will argue that UT hasn't been a powerhouse for the past couple of years keep in mind that they always recruit solidly for defense producing such talent of Jerod Mayo, Eric Berry, Jabari Greer, and Aubrayo Franklin. Well on this fateful day I saw some extremely good blocking, clear out patterns, and hard running, three things that our tight ends MUST do this year.
In the following video you will see him get on blocks and work to create a hole for his running back, and then in some play action block out in space to give his quarterback extra time to make a decision. You will also see some rough routes (will improve with coaching) but the innate ability to fight for extra yards which most of those passes come at some pretty pivotal points in the game to give the offense life and fight. It killed me to watch. I feel as if his skill set will help excellently for the Colts in their new scheme because he can play all over the place as you will see him line up at fullback, slot, and on the end of the line and make plays happen. He was a pick I was extremely excited about and I believe he will make the roster and will be able to make a positive impact.
