Let's face it, both will always be compared from now until the end of their careers. Last year, the obvious bias towards the flashy quarterback playing in a bigger market took quite a bit of attention away from what Luck was able to accomplish.
I'm making my first post to put forth something that has annoyed me beyond comprehension over the last few months, and reared itself again yesterday. I'm not going to run through a breakdown of why run-heavy quarterbacks have a short shelf life, because that's already apparent. RG3 got hurt last year, and he got hurt because of his own foolishness and that of the coaching staff. He never should have played in that playoff game, but his ego was the only reason he suited up. Heck we applaud athletes for playing through difficulties, whether it's Jordan's sick game or Peyton playing an entire season with a major neck issue. He tried doing something similar, and he got caught.
After RG3 re-tore his ACL following the Seattle game, all the major networks and many writers based coach Shanahan for what they perceived was blatant stupidity. How could anyone have let RG3 play in that state? Never once did RG3 come to the defence of his coach, and say it was his own desire to play that led to the events against Seattle. Could he not have saved his coach from the tremendous bashing he took for several months? Now on to yesterday, I turn on Sports Center to see RG3 complaining about not being able to play in pre-season games. Pretty much, throwing his coach under the bus. Now Shanahan wrongfully caught a lot of flack for how last year ended, and even though he is trying to protect RG3 from himself, RG3 publicly complains about his desire to play. Does that not seem a little stupid on RG3's part? The entire coverage of Robert over the last year has painted him as the perfect quarterback, and human being. To me, this is not only selfish, but outright stupid on RG3's part.
On the other hand, Luck seems like the ideal QB who is good on the field, and realizes he isn't above Coach P. Obviously there is a little bit of bias in my viewpoint, as I'm a die hard Indy fan, but that doesn't change the fact that RG3 is a moron. In my estimation any ways.
