I'm sure you would know that the new Madden release date is around the corner. For me, that is very good news.
The Colts offense boasts dynamic starters....but depth, particularly on the offensive line, is a bit shoddy.
Derived from EA Sports' website, there are the rankings for notable Colts players:
1.ANDREW LUCK- Throw Power 92, Throw Accuracy 86, Speed 82, Agility 85, Awareness 74, OVERALL 88.
2. MATT HASSELBECK- Throw Power 83, Throw Accuracy 82, Awareness 87, OVERALL 79.
Analysis: Andrew Luck is on the fringe on the top 10 in QB Madden Rankings. For a second year player, that is outstanding. It is surprising that Robert Griffin, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson and (especially) Colin Kaepernick are rated higher than Luck though. Luck's awareness is pretty low. Hassellbeck is a great backup to have. Overall, the Colt's QBs will make the Colts a fun team to be.
1. AHMAD BRADSHAW- Speed 90, Agility 91, Pass block 75, Juke 93, OVERALL 83.
2. VICK BALLARD- Carrying 91, Trucking 93, Stiff arm 89, 93 Stamina, OVERALL 77.
3. DONALD BROWN- 74 OVERALL. 4. STANLEY HAVILI- 73 OVERALL.
RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL these days, and even though there is a star player in this group, the depth is pretty solid here. Ahmad Bradshaw is good enough to keep the defense honest for you to carve up with Luck in the passing game.
1.REGGIE WAYNE- Awareness 98, Catching 97, Route Running 97, OVERALL 91.
2. DARRIUS HEYWARD-BEY- Speed 97, 92 Jumping, Catching 76, OVERALL 79.
3. TY HILTON- Speed 95, Catching 85, Agility 96, OVERALL 79.
A very nice trio for a Madden game. You have a classic possession receiver and two deep threats. The speed on Heyward-Bey and TY will force defences to be extremely cautious (expect a few drops from DHB though). 85 Catching for TY, after having a poor drop rate in 2012, is pretty generous in my opinion.
1. DWAYNE ALLEN- 84 Catching, 84 Run blocking, OVERALL 84.
2. COBY FLEENER- 87 Speed, 83 Catching, OVERALL 77.
Allen and Fleener get a nice ratings boost from last year. Allen is a very good blocker. Fleener, on the other hand, is not a good blocker, but using him consistently as a receiver is a wise move as linebackers and safeties will get burnt by him.
LT:ANTHONY CASTONZO- OVERALL 79, BRADLEY SOWELL- OVERALL 62.
LG: DONALD THOMAS- OVERALL 81, JEFF LINKENBACH- OVERALL 70.
C:SAMSON SATELE- OVERALL 78.
RG: MICK McGLYNN- OVERALL 72, HUGH THORNTON- 69.
RT: GOSDER CHERILUS- OVERALL 90, BEN IJALANA- 72.
The weakness on the offense is the offensive line. The starters collectively are pretty good: Castonzo, Thomas and Satele are decent starters, Mcglynn is pretty poor but Cherilus is close to an elite RT. The depth, however, is not good. I love rotating the big guys in and out as their stamina seems to run out on the long drives, so depth is important (not to mention an injury to one of the starters can be really annoying). On Madden though, the offensive line is definitely not as important as the QB and receivers for a high flying offense..
WHAT I THINK....
It will be very fun to play as the Colts because of the balance. Having one QB (88), WR (91), TE (84) and RB (83) over 80 means threats are everywhere in the skilled positions. That is the makings of a good Madden offense and I can't wait to be these guys online.
