From the sounds of things, there are three Colt players, who still are talented, but seem to have had poor offseasons and should be feeling the Hot Seat:
PAT ANGERER- Injuries, quality competition and being an outlier amongst the other inside linebackers are the main factors for Angerer being present on this list. The work ethic, talent and positive attitude are evident, but he doesn't fit in with the defensive scheme/Greg Manusky's 3-4 defense. Blueironshoe hit on it perfectly with his blog. Jerrell Freeman seems to be a lock for the inside linebacker spot, Kavell Conner and Kelvin Sheppard (who have had solid camps) are fighting for the other starting spot. I just can't see Angerer on the squad again as a spot in the 53 man squad is too valuable to spend on an injury-prevelant, misfitted, depth linebacker.
DELONE CARTER- Quote from day three camp: "Delone Carter looks bound for the chopping block. He is almost exclusively playing with the third team, and he's not exactly impressing while he's there. He managed to drop one of the easiest passes of the day on a screen to the right side of the field. " The Colts should have 5 running backs on the roster. This includes fullback Stanley Havili and half backs Vick Ballard and Ahmad Bradshaw for the 1-2 double B punch, Donald Brown for depth and speedstar Kerwynn Williams for kick returns (he may turn out to be valuable on offense too). Sorry Delone.
LAVON BRAZIL- A month and a half ago, if you thought that LaVon would be the number 4 wideout on the Colts roster, then you would certainly of been correct. That was before his failed drug test and that was before training camp. What has happened during training camp for LaVon you may ask? He has been seriously outperformed by Griff Whalen (the star of day one), who had his his first drop on the 5th day (which is pretty darn good for a depth receiver). Even Jeremy Kelley is training solidly (as he has become Chandler's favourite target) and do you think the coaches are not loving his size? After breaking the rules and having the worst training camp of all receivers in day three and then suffering an injury, LaVon should be feeling serious heat.
What do you think?
