Just listened to clips of of Coach Pagano's media scrum today with the media. He said Mike McGlynn has a bone bruise from practice and will be held out of Saturday's game. As some may have heard, rookie Hugh Thornton, who many believe was drafted to replace the often criticized (and justifiably so) Mike McGlynn, returned to practice this week. Pagano stated that the ankle injury held up well and we should see some "limited" snaps for Hugh at right guard.
Other notes of interest from Pagano with respect to Saturday night's game against the Browns:
- Laron Landry will play this Saturday, giving us our first look at the run stopping pro-bowl safety Ryan Grigson signed this offseason. I'll be interested in seeing how much he plays as well considering his participation in training camp has been limited to mental reps
- Although Dwayne Allen had "good reps" this week in practice, according to Pagano, they will hold him out of Saturday's game
- Ditto for Colby Fleener and Ahmad Bradshaw - out for precautionary reasons. With respect to the tight ends, this means our top two TE on the depth chart will miss the most significant of the four pre-season games, leaving us with Justice Cunningham among others; a real chance for tight ends lower on the depth chart to show the coaches what they are all about
