We all know some of the heros of this Colts team. Of course there is Andrew Luck, playing awesome like the player we thought he should be. Then there is fan favorite Reggie Wayne who pulls out miracle passes while making it look easy. And of course, who could leave out TY Hilton and the fabulous passes he's made this season and last season? Even Griff Whalen has come in there and looked pretty good.
But enough of those offensive names. I want to talk about defense.
There are two guys on defense that have really stood out to me this season. The first is Cory Redding. Number 90 is just a physical beast that plays his heart out not only in the game but in practice. I wish the Colts had 53 guys on the roster with his kind of drive and relentlessness.
The second is LaRon Landry. Landry has truly impressed me this season. In my mind, he has definitely earned the title of "hero" for this Colts team. I've seen receivers get past the defense on the right side of the field and the receiver is heading for the endzone. Here comes Landry, clear from the far left side of the field. He's the furthest Colts defender from the guy. He runs with his hulking framer after the guy, passes the other Colts players, tracks the receiver down, takes him out and saves the touchdown while some of the other Colts defenders have already given up on the play.
LaRon Landry has the kind of determination I like to see. I've also seen where he comes over and just blasts a receiver with a hard hit, placing his helmet or hand right at the ball to knock it loose and cause a fumble or drop. I don't know if many have noticed it, but he's made a number of plays already this season that likely could have been game saving plays.
We as fans like to focus on the offense and scoring. But I think a guy like Landry deserves some praise from Colts fans. Landry, keep up the good work! Hope your determination rubs off on other players.
