Colts injuries: Ahmad Bradshaw and LaRon Landry OUT against Jaguars

Chuck Pagano told the media on Friday that two of the Colts' biggest free agent acquisitions this offseason will miss the team's first division game.

Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw missed his third day of practice on Friday, and immediately following that practice head coach Chuck Pagano confirmed that Bradshaw is OUT for the Colts' first divisional game against the Jaguars on Sunday.

Bradshaw has been injury-prone his entire career, especially recently. A foot injury cost him two games in 2012, which then required surgery in the offseason. After signing with the Colts, Bradshaw missed all of OTAs, training camp, and all four preseason games while recovering from the foot surgery.

Now, he's got a neck problem.

With Bradshaw sidelined, newly acquired running back Trent Richardson will have even more carries on Sunday. This is a big opportunity for Richardson. His yards-per-carry are low, and even though our own Matt Grecco thinks the stat doesn't mean much (and I agree with him), it does mean something to Richardson's critics. One of them being Jim Brown.

The Jaguars have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. If Richardson cannot run all over the Jags, the label of "ordinary" will continue to stick.

Also listed as OUT for Sunday is safety LaRon Landry. 45 minutes before Pagano announced Landry would not play on Sunday, the seven-year veteran tweeted this:

Landry signed a four-year deal with the Colts this offseason, with $11 million guaranteed. Rookie safety Delano Howell has filled in well for Landry and, in many ways, has outplayed him.

Kind of makes you wonder why the Colts invested so much money in the injury-prone Landry who, prior to his contract year with the Jets in 2012, had missed 15 games in two seasons. Also, if Howell continues to play well, do you sit him when Landry returns?

Yes, I went there.
