I know this season ended on kind of a sour note, losing like that to the Pats of all teams, but I think this is a hella exciting time to be a Colts fan.
Immediately, I look at the injuries we had last year, and I know that losing Reggie was a huge loss...but, I honestly think the bigger losses were Dallen and Donald Thomas. Both would have provided extra help to our stagnant run game, and both would have drastically improved the passing game, in terms of being a receiver and pass pro respectively.
I know the T-Rich trade looks like it kinda sucked, but call me crazy, I'm moderately optimistic about his future. I'm not saying I think he is the second coming of Barry Sanders, but I think if they alter their scheme to a ZBS, and really focus on that, it will make a huge difference, and I think he can be a 1000 yard rusher next year.
In terms of the receivers, I'd like an addition this year, through either the draft or FA. My draft prefernce is Jordan Matthews in the 2nd, but Im starting to doubt he is there. My FA want is hoping Broncos let Decker test the market. I don't think he is a No. 1, but I do think he is the best No. 2, and my hope would be they draft a No. 1 next year if they pick Decker up.
On the defensive side, I'm also optimistic about Werner, if he bulks up, improves his strength, he can use that to beat blockers, and be a good pass rusher. If Matthews is not there in the 2nd, someone like Skov or Smallwood would be good at ILB.
If they splash out on either Byrd or Ward in FA, I'm happy, but maybe Joyner from FSU is a better idea...but would he be there when we pick? We'll see.
All in all, I'm optimistic about next year, and I'm excited about FA and the Draft, even though we don't have a 1st rounder.
Hope you guys agree with my little piece here, all comments are appreciated.
