First off. I understand that the NFL season is hard and long. But the defensive line has to get a better push than what they could muster against K.C. They need to get it in their head that the Pats O-Line is out that to embarrass, drive them into the turf, beat them up, slap their mama, on national prime time T.V., for the whole world to watch. Because that is what the Pats want to due. I do not know how to state it better. They Pats running game has to be ineffective and there needs to be pressure in Brady's face early and often. Make it so Brady can not utilize play action and only has one weapon to win the pass game. Brady is the master of the dink and dunk offense I say let him be, but funnel coverage into the middle. Then the linebackers and secondary will have to play a different style of defense until the ball is in redzone and that forget about press man and just punish the Pats receivers the whole game and just blast them after each and every completion. There will be some P.I. and unnecessary roughness penalties but that will be the cost of doing business. The Pats receivers are smaller and nimble and beat press man on regular and consistent basis. It will be cold night game on the East Coast but make the Pats feel pain and pay for every offensive yard. After 3 quarters of this watch the receivers get alligator arms and force themselves into 3 and outs.
For the offense. Again line play is key the Colts offensive line will need a good game as a whole again this week. The offense needs a effective running game and needs to be balanced to keep the Pats defense unable to key on the passing game. The Pats rush 4 and drop 7 just about more than any team in the NFL and are fundamentally sound and make very few mistakes and try to make you beat them and force your offense into making mistakes. Belichick commented that Dallas Clark was a pain in the ass guy because he was a match up problem and just made plays. Walen, Rodgers, Brown, and Fleener need to be pain in the ass guys in this game. There will very very few opportunities for 64 yard bombs down the middle of the field early but after executing in the intermediate and short passing game the secondary will start to peek into the backfield and break coverage and then is the time to hit the big play. The offense needs to be effective, balanced, and efficient. Just be a pain in the ass and frustrate the Pats.
Bottom line. If all else fails just keep moving forward with this team anything is possible Saturday night proved it.
