With all of the cap space that we have, and the indication that we are not going to go crazy in free agency, it makes me wonder how we can re-sgin some of our key guys to front loaded contracts, and what exactly that it means. For example, can we give Davis a 5 year 40 mil contract with with 15 mil guaranteed ALL in the first year? Just making up numbers so sorry if that is unrealistic. Don't focus too much on that. What is the max you can do in year one and have hit the cap in year 1 so that less hits in the following years?
Love him or not, Grigson did a good job of structuring most FA's last year where they could be cut this year or next with little penalty. Just wondering if we can do that with Davis or maybe even Costanzo if we choose to re-sign him early. Anyone else make sense to re-sign this year to a bigger deal?
