For those clamoring for the Colts to sign Jonathon Martin if he is released need to JUST STOP! A sight called the Big Lead released text message exchanges from Martin and Ingognito through quite a few months leading up to the whole debacle. The link is below.
Now I am not saying that Richie Ingognito is any kind of saint but, there was clearly NO BULLYING going on. The talk between these two men is very common talk between good buddies. If you don't speak like this, I understand, it is pretty vulgar. But among two well paid young NFL players this is nothing. In fact, it illustrates that the two were good friends and that Richie was lending out a helping hand or ear if Martin needed to talk about anything. When Martin 1st left the team it was Richie that asked 1st and foremost if he was ok. These messages clearly show that Martin left the team basically because he could not handle the vigor's of NFL life. Jonathon Martin seems to be a complete head case and because he was too embarrassed or weak to admit it he stuck a knife in the back of a good friend of his and let him take the fall.
I understand the rumors that were coming out, especially of Ingognito's personality that it was easy to blame or except that Martin was being harassed or hazed entirely way to much. That is basically the medias fault for only getting one side of the story and blowing the bullying story up to campaign against bullying. Bullying is wrong I am not defending that. But this is clearly not a case of bullying. This is a case, IF THESE TEXTS THAT WERE LEAKED ARE TRUE, of a weak individual who couldn't admit to his own inadequacy's.
If the texts are legit and not falsified by a tabloid media market, I am not sure if Martin would be excepted in any locker room. We heard a lot about the Stanford connection of the Colts, but there are many other players from many different schools on this team. How could any player or for that matter any franchise trust that this behavior would not happen again? I didn't do much defending or supporting of Martin or Ingognito when all this happen for the simple fact that we were not given all the facts. All I myself said was I didn't think Martin was a very good player and didn't see a fit on the team with already two bookend tackles. Now I am totally convinced that he has no place on this team and for that matter any team.
*Side note: there are a few texts that reference drug use between not only them but other players. Id imagine the NFL would like to know more about that issue as well.
