Hello all of you beautiful people,
My ideal approach has always been as follows - use the initial day to lock up players you "can't live without," then hold off until the buzz dies and round out the roster with bargains (much like Seattle did last year). This is why I am pretty happy about our approach thus far in FA. We reserved the first day for deals that Grigson obviously felt MUST get done - shoring up the DL with Art Jones, re-signing Davis, etc. What he has not done this year, which I am grateful for, is try to sign every one of his interests in the first day or two, in which you generally have to overspend. Last year was littered with these examples, one being the E. Walden deal on the first day (which, while not certain, many of us believe could have been had later in FA for 1/2 the cost).
With that being said, there are still plenty of quality players out there that could be had for a small percentage of the cost being paid to those signed in the first two days. My favorites are the following:
Mack (if reasonably affordable, no more than 8.5m)
Nicks (probably won't be affordable because of Panther interest, but like his size/hands combo)
Prove-it deals for guys like LaFell, Danario Alexander, or Britt
For me priority would be Center, FS, Corner, and if we can get an affordable WR I'm for it. Who are you still looking for the Colts to add?
