If this has already been asked/addressed, I apologize but here is my question. It is reported that Cleveland has placed the transition tag on Mack. My understanding is that if no other team makes him an offer, he is on a one year deal with Cleveland for just over $10M for 2014. My understanding is also the Cleveland can "match" any other teams offer and retain Mack with that contract. Here is my question....if the Colts offered Mack a 4 year contract for say $32M with $20M guaranteed, this is a better offer than he currently has...correct?? This would force Cleveland to match the Colts offer or let him go. Is that correct? If so, then we do not have to pay him over $10M/year unless we were only offering him a 1 year contract..correct? Appreciate all help in understanding this!!
