It's starting to look more likey the New England Patriots will have their hand forced by Vincent Wilfork. He cleared out his locker today and removed the name tag associated with it. His release seems more likely than ever now. Just because the Patriots think he's on the back nine of his career and believe he isn't worth his current contract, doesn't mean there's not still value . Even at the age of 32 there's plenty of gas left in the tank. I've watched for years people say Kevin Williams is going to retire and yet he manages to play the game at a high level despite being 37 years old. Upon Wilfork's eventual release I'd expect a team like the Colts to sign him to a multi year deal. If you consider our cap space and our desire to stop the run, I see this as a match made in heaven. He might even sign to a incentive laid contract, just to stick it to his old team. Besides, I'm sure he misses his old buddies (Darius Butler and Adam Vinatieri) .
Then, I began wondering if any other gems might be released prior to the league year beginning. One name kept coming to mind Carl Nicks. If released from Tampa, he would be another name to watch. I feel he could strength our O-line and allow whomsoever plays center to ease into that role by surrounding them with outstanding guards. So, is this something you'd like to see happen? Is there anyone who you think will be cut/released between now and the start of the season whom you want doning the Colts uniform?
