I know there are people on both sides of the fence on this signing. His signing makes him the 14th highest paid ILB in the league, and the majority of ILBs beneath him are on their rookie contracts, so while the money is not cheap I don’t think it’s that expensive. I know his PFF overall scores aren’t tremendous but there are two important PFF stats I really like.
Jackson is 1st in the league in combined tackling efficiency amongst ILBs who played at least 75% of their teams defensive snaps, Jackson played 100% by the way. He only had 7 missed tackles on the year in the run and pass game combined, that’s pretty good, Freeman had 12.
Secondly he was 6th amongst ILBs in yards given up per coverage snap (Freeman was 17th) and he only gave up one TD through the air with one interception as well along with 7 passes defended. His range seems to be good which would’ve been helpful in that San Diego game this last year.
I like those numbers and I think he and Freeman make a pretty formidable one two punch at ILB. GO COLTS!!!
