Per this article on NFL.com, they decided to re-do the 2012 draft armed with 20/20 hindsight knowledge. What is interesting to me.. is that 3 of the Colt's players would have gone in the first round. Whereas we got them in rounds 1, 2 and, 3 respectively. It's truly amazing what can happen when you nail the draft!
This does give me hope for this upcoming year. We are a great team knocking on the door of elite. We need a few more blue chip players to take home the ultimate hardware :SB rings! O-Line, Safety, and Pass Rushers come to mind. Obviously we have no clue what this draft will hold.. but if Grigson can repeat his 2012 performance. We will be a legitimate SB contender, and not just next year.
Also a lot of our comments after last years draft were that it wasn't a 'sexy' draft.. but a draft that was necessary to beef up the lines etc etc... Now most people have given up on last years draft.. However, a necessary draft probably isn't going to develop into pro bowl caliber players in year 1. If the players from last year develop into the role they were drafted for we will have a different outlook on the success. Primarily the level of play exhibited from Werner, Thornton, and Holmes.. If they all take steps forward, some people around here may be left eating their words..
Regardless, just thought I'd share the link as I thought it was interesting that 3 of our picks are now considered first round talent worthy - and I can't say I disagree either!
