The Sleeper Pick of the Draft

Donta Moncrief

College: Mississippi

Height: 6-2

Weight: 221 lbs.

Hands: 9 1/8"

Projected Round: Late 2nd - 4th

A Junior class man coming out of Mississippi, Donta Moncrief has the ability to become a top tier receiver in the NFL. He's a big man with neck-breaking speed - clocked in at 4.3 in the 40 yard dash. Lindy's Magazine calls him "A nightmare for cornerbacks". He's not as dynamic at making defenders miss as some of the number one prospects, but still capable of shaking a tackle. What he lacks in elusiveness, he makes up for it in physicality, speed, and smooth route running. Comparisons for Moncrief have been somewhere in between Josh Gordon and Dez Bryant. There's just some players you get the feeling they're going to be special. Last year, before the draft I wanted the Colts to select Keenan Allen, unfortunately he was passed over. The Chargers ended up taking him in the third round and even as a rookie, he looks like a future star in the league. Now, this year those old feelings are bubbling up again with Donte Moncrief. He has an extremely high ceiling and could one day become an elite wide out. In a draft this deep someone is bound to be overlooked. Even though I'm enamored with this kid, I believe the Colts should still select a safety with their 59th pick in the second round. But, if he falls to the third round, then Grigson needs to find a way to move into position to grab him.
