I was just sitting back at my local choke and puke in Muncie, IN and a waitress came up to me and asked me what I would order. Well I didn't know quite what to say except, "What does this sorry excuse for a draft mean to the Colts. I'm confused."
She responded by saying, "I like that Mon Crief."
"What!, I said, You must be speaking French for, "Are you Hungry?"
Right, what's on special and what do you think about those Colts.
"Well", she said, "everything is quite good and BTM."
"OK a bacon tomato and mayo sandwich does sound good, but can I have that on wheat bread with lettuce and a side of cole slaw, and a coke zero, please," I replied.
The waitress looked confused and responded by saying, "Sure thing sir."
Now it was time for the important stuff. Thinking about my Colts.
I considered all the injuries and hardships our team suffered and how when all hope was lost they beat the two teams that would later play in the Super Bowl and did so quite easily. We took on the best and gave them hell, even after most of our offense was injured. This was not a small task. At season end, we had 11 wins for the second season in a row with only a few has-beens, rookies, second year players, and other people's scrubs. Our defense was rated towards the bottom in everything and we did this great feat. What happens when we add all the new defensive players like Jones, and D'Qwell, we acquired on defense? Our team was banged up, but it gave our 2nd stringers a chance to shine and gain some first string skills, thus making backup people we can count on in a pinch this year, then add in a pinch of Hakeem Nicks and the fact that injuries heal and it smells like a Super Bowl team to me.
I know what you are thinking now. Why the rose colored glasses when Mathis is out the first four games? Well, he's getting older and older means gets tired and injured easier. This will ensure he stays fresh and vibrant for the last part of the season and the playoffs. After all, that is when we will need him most, and it gives backups a chance to gain skills in case something happens to Mathis.
Then it hits me!!! This is my first blog post and I don't know how many words I will need to get this posted. Oh dear, I hope I have written enough. I do tend to be ever so brief.
Well, my foods arrived, and it looks so good!!!
I ask the waitress what she thinks of Newsome and she blurts out, "BALL U!!!."
Hmmm...That's a bit rude but I should still leave a good tip since she is pretty and gives excellent service.
Now, what should I have for dessert?
