I have read that Donte entered the draft this year in order to be able to help his family financially. I don't know the dollars and cents details of what the 90th selection in the 2014 NFL Draft is slotted to make, but the keyword there is 'SLOTTED'.
There isn't much wiggle room to negotiate, and holdouts are senseless. So . . . . . what's the problem?
Grigson raved on him after the draft. Pagano raved about his athleticism and work ethic. He has "joined" one of the classiest franchises in the NFL. His future is bright. Signing his contract should be a simple matter, right ?
Well, as of this writing, he is the lone rookie still not to have signed his contract. I'm stumped as to why. Is he acting as his own agent ? Or a family member, perhaps ? If he has an agent, is he/she too preoccupied to wrap up a perfectly straight forward deal ?
I would have thought that Moncrief would be at the head of the contract signing line in order to pocket his signing bonus ASAP and get on with the business of helping out his family. Obviously, that hasn't happened.
I don't expect this to drag on forever, but it does puzzle me why he remains unsigned. Maybe my Stampede Blue colleagues will educate me.
