One of the biggest rumors making the rounds today has been that of the Chiefs putting stud safety Eric Berry on the trade block. I am not sure if I believe it, but let's just create a hypothetical here (I mean isn't that really what mock drafts are and what this site is all about?).
The Falcons have been rumored to be in negotiations for their 2nd round pick for Berry and to me that is a steal. If I were Grigson I would jump at the chance to get a 25 year old Berry and would be willing to give up my 2nd rounder for him and maybe a later round pick. At that point we would still have a few picks for a Walt Aikens or a James Stone later in the draft.
If he could pull this trade off, assuming that it is real, it would fill the safety hole and be a tremendous upgrade over what we had last year in Bethea. It would redeem the Colts much maligned General manager in my eyes. I understand that everyone on this site hates the idea of giving up picks for players and rightfully so after the Richardson debacle, but if there is any inkling of truth in this rumor and the Colts did not explore it and try to get one of the best young safeties in the league, I, for one would be incredibly disappointed. This could drastically upgrade the Colts secondary and turn a weakness into a strength.
I hope this rumor is true and I hope the Colts take advantage of it, but I still want to know what you think.
