Hello fellow Colts fans. As I'm sure you already know about Mr. McKinney being brought in to for a tryout. But what none of you know is that thanks to the former Colts NT, I was given one of the funniest and best football nights of my life. What you are about to read is the story of that night.
It was the Thursday night game against the Houston Texans and there I sat with all of my friends in our little hole in the wall sports bar not to far from my home. I loved it because it was predominantly Colts fans that went there to watch the games, which is a huge plus considering that I live in Dayton, Ohio (Browns, Bengals and Steelers fans everywhere). Because the game was on a Thursday it was completely empty except for my group and one guy at the bar that had way too much to drink but he didn't bother us so we just ignored him, that was until he noticed us and tried to start a conversation right in the mist of an epic comeback by our Colts. He kept asking us If we knew who Brandon McKinney was. We said that we knew who he was as he lives in the Dayton area, in fact, His father works at the local college by my house ( but that is another story entirely). He then preceded to tell us that he was a handy man and was currently remodeling Mr. McKinney's kitchen. I knew he was lying and completely turned my attention back to the game.
I had almost forgotten about the guy when I heard a crash from behind. My friends and I all turned around and too our horror we saw a 6'4 300 lb heavily inebriated man stumbling, bumbling and fumbling towards us while screeming at the top of his lungs, "I GOT EM ON THE PHONE! THE PHONE, THE PHONE HE"S ON THE PHONE.
As it turns out the man was telling the truth after all because a few moments later I was talking one the phone with the Colts former NT. As I was in shock of what had just unfolded, I didn't have a long conversation with the man. All I said hi, how's the knee and when are you coming back. He said that the knee felt great and that he was just waiting for the call.
It was only after the fact that I had time to laugh my ass off.
