The Vontae Davis trade wasn't exactly in-season (it was close) and it didn't "shake the world" it wasn't any kind of a "wopper" of a trade but it made a big difference.
The Trent Richardson trade was a "wopper" and we've discussed it ad nauseum.
But in each of his first two years he's made a move to get a guy he wanted. The roster still has holes that could be filled, but there are a lot of reasons it may not make sense to make a move for a guy, money being chief among them.
But I don't care about those issues, what I want to know is who do you think could be available? I may be alone but I never saw the Davis trade coming and the Richardson trade shocked everyone, so who will it be this year? We have an obvious hole at Safety and we could use another Corner. While we will have a pretty full competition at Guard going into the season I don't think Grigson would pass up an opportunity to make a move for a possible upgrade.
Of course he could just punk us all and trade a first rounder for Jeremy Shockey's ghost. In about 15 minutes worth of research the guy I thought was most likely was Leon McFadden CB, Browns. Like Richardson he was taken by the old regime, the only difference being that the Browns went after CB's like they were going extinct this off season.
McFadden doesn't fit perfectly for our defense (from what I've read, I have watched 0 tape), in that he's never been known to be overly physical at the line. However he was a highly rated prospect who hasn't lived up to expectations and could find himself as the odd man out in Cleveland.
So if not McFadden then who will Grigs go get this year, and what do we give up to get him?
