I was doing my usual trolling of ESPN, Stampede Blue, and the brand spankin new Colts Camp (which looks pretty good, btw, nice work fellas!) and came across a piece by Ed Werder about Jimmy. After the controversial ruling several days ago, Drew Brees has been adamant that both Graham and the Saints will come to an agreement, but if they fail to do so Ed mentions several teams that folks should have their eye on as possible landing spots. First, he mentions the Falcons who I'm sure have a few TE's on the roster, but I couldn't name one. Next, the Packers who would make sense considering they parted ways with Jermichael Finley after his devastating injury, but cap space and the impending re-signing of Cobb and Nelson should put things into perspective. New England was also mentioned as a possible destination, although I don't even want to think about the possibility of a healthy Gronk AND Graham catching passes from Brady. Pass. Finally, Werder mentions....the COLTS??? First off, Graham is an incredibly talented guy who would provide an insane upgrade in terms of pass catching. There's no denying that. I'm not sure why, though, but I was a little offended that he would suggest Indy as a possible destination. Both a second and a third round pick were used to select two talented TE's not but two years ago and seem to have all the potential in the world (or at least enough potential to contribute to what seems to be an amazing receiving lineup this year). I know we're all looking forward to getting Dwayne back, and Coby took a big step in his development last year as more of a vertical/red zone threat which is of course what Graham is used as. I just can't fathom spending two first round picks on a player that isn't crucial in getting us to the next step. It almost seemed like Ol Ed just picked the team with the most cap space as possible suitors. My rage kicks in when I see supposed well respected reporters and analysts pulling crap like that out of their butts just to fill space on a page. Whatever, I gotta work on that.
I guess all that to say that I'm still going home tonight and making a trade for Graham on Madden and going off for 800 yards passing.
