There seems to be a rather weird lack of negativity here at Stampede Blue recently. There doesn't seem to be that subjective opinion that calls a spade a lethal, concussion-inducing weapon.
And that means that nobody has pointed out what a catastrophe the current situation is. I mean look: in the generally-regarded-as-worst-division-in-football, the AFC South, here are the current standings:-
AFC South Team | W | L | T | Pct | PF | PA | Net Pts | TD | Home | Road | Div | Pct | Conf | Pct | Non-Conf | Streak | Last 5 |
Tennessee Titans | 1 | 1 | 0 | .500 | 44 | 47 | -3 | 3 | 1-0 | 0-1 | 0-0 | .000 | 0-0 | .000 | 1-1 | 1L | 1-1 |
Houston Texans | 1 | 1 | 0 | .500 | 32 | 39 | -7 | 0 | 1-0 | 0-1 | 0-0 | .000 | 0-0 | .000 | 1-1 | 1W | 1-1 |
Jacksonville Jaguars | 1 | 1 | 0 | .500 | 35 | 30 | 5 | 2 | 1-0 | 0-1 | 0-0 | .000 | 0-0 | .000 | 1-1 | 1L | 1-1 |
Indianapolis Colts | 0 | 2 | 0 | .000 | 36 | 40 | -4 | 1 | 0-1 | 0-1 | 0-0 | .000 | 0-1 | .000 | 0-1 | 2L | 0-2 |
We're bottom, and we've only got 2 games left to turn our pre-season around. OK some might argue that to lose to the 3-0 (and obviously early Superbowl favorites) NY Giants is not that bad, but we've now been utterly crushed in 2 games. This is becoming a habit.
We've got to make some changes, and make them fast. I think that the young Andrew Luck, promising though he may be, has been outplayed in these games by the wily veteran Matt Hasselbeck, so it's time for Pagano to end the uncertainty and name him as our starter.
I'm not sure about any other changes, but I've created a poll so you can choose who is to blame for our current situation. Hopefully this will bring a bit more realism into the debate, so that people won't be completely devastated if we only go 15-1 or 14-2 (rather than 16-0) in the post-pre-season games.
