What we learned today...nothing.

I've turned the game off in the third quarter as it begins to spiral out of control. It is over, done. Acutally, it was over before they ever took the field. I look at this team and I honestly don't believe any of these players thought they could beat NE. There will be no miraculous comeback today. Shoulders are slumped, gazes are hollow and players are sitting by themselves wishing it could be over.

We got beat in every single facet of this game. It happened yet again to the Patriots in embarrassing fashion. The coaching was bad. Pagano was lost and just proved that he is our version of John Fox on his best day. The rest of the time he walks around more lost than an Alzheimers patient. I'd like to blast Manuskey since he has been pretty bad from the start of his tenure, but his players played so bad that no amount of coaching was going to make a difference. Pep again was uninspiring. I don't think he will ever out coach the other side. I watched the Patriots use rub routes, motion and a variety of formations while we just played straight up football and get destroyed. Enough of the ranting, I'll give you my thoughts on what I did watch.

1. The offensive line played decent. This line isn't all that talented, but I think they did an OK job considering. This game wasn't on them.

2. WRs got next to no separation all game. I realize the Pats have good corners, but this was just sad. We need to address this. Hilton is the only dependable option we have and his play has been below par and inconsistent for a few weeks now.

3. Luck was bad today kids. Even when people were open, he wasn't very accurate. Body language was the wost I've ever seen it and it's as close to him giving up as I've ever seen.

4. Reggie is done. I'm sorry, don't play the nice guy and bring him back because he was once one of the greatest Colts I ever saw. He had no right being out there for weeks now and it killed this team today.

5. Chapman is a bum. At best, he's depth and he's probably not going to be good at that. There are problems up and down the DL, but Chapman is the worst. His poor play dominoes into the LBers and just causes havoc on the defense.

6. The whole LBing core is garbage. Newsome has shown flashes and has upside, but nobody deserves to be starting. Freeman has had a couple of down years and shows no sign of improvement. Jackson is a garbage man who makes enough plays to disappoint you if you get your hopes up. Walden looks decent by comparison, but again, that is not saying much. Werner didn't play today, and that says about all that needs to be said about him.

7. The secondary is the strength of this D. Davis is awesome. Toler plays well more often than not. Adams has been decent for a stop gag. Too bad we didn't have someone to pay the other safety spot that didn't completely suck.

8. Fucking Josh Cribbs. If you don't understand that statement, you have no right to watch football.

Now for what to do about this.

1. Put the coaches on the hot seat. I'd strip Pagano of any coaching input on the D (similar to what Dallas did to Garrett) and inform all of them that going into next year, nobody's job is safe. Getting there is not enough anymore. We've been embarrassed far too often in the Pagano era and that needs to stop being routine.

2. Cut chaff. Landry should be gone. RJF, Richardson, Wayne, Nicks, Thomas and Freeman can join him. I'd cut Jackson too if the cap allowed me too.

3. Certain starters should not be starting, they should only be used as depth. Chapman, Holmes, Thornton, Shipley, Reitz, Louis and Moncrief are all depth players. We have started some out of stupidity and some out of necessity, but none are the answer.

4. We need play makers on D. I don't care if we have to trade up, we need to find an impact player on D in the draft. We could honestly go D with every pick in this draft and we'd still need more talent on defense things are so bad.

5. Spend your FA money on the line. Enough already with the experiments, shuffling and hopes. Go out and get a center and guard. One good, one at least decent. Use hodge podge of centers and right guards as depth, nothing more.

6. Find an NFL caliber WR. Moncrief will still be a project next year, Hilton is too easily taken out of games and Wayne is done. Let Nicks walk and find a reliable vet that can get some separation and catch the ball. There should be enough cash by letting Nicks and Wayne walk to do this.
