I'm back to writing my first article this season: Everything on my mind

Hello Colts Nation! Long time no see! You may have seen some of my comments sprinkled into random articles on here throughout this offseason, but for the most part I have just been a reader and not a writer on this site.

Today though, I feel a little spunky and want to get my thoughts on paper (the screen in this case). I have drafted several articles, but never feel satisfied with them so I avoid posting. (Also credit to Josh this offseason in keeping us all very up to date in a very organized easy to follow fashion). I on the other hand will be very VERY unorganized in this article. I may even ramble a time or two.

Here it goes!

Topic #1: The more things change the more they stay the same...

I am usually one of the most optimistic fans you'll find on this site. But man this offseason we revamped the coaching staff, (outside of Pagano and Grigs in the FO). Pep is gone. All seemed well. But these pre-season games have hinted that with all the changes, things are still very much the same in certain areas.

First, the penalties. I am so F#$%ing pissed off when I see our oline hold, or any offensive player commit a penalty. The Dungy Era felt like they had fewer penalties over that decade than our current regime get in a single game! It is the most annoying thing year in and year out to see.

Next is inconsistencies week after week. I no longer believe we are watching 1 team in a season. I think there is Andrew Luck and Andy Luck. Anthony Castonzo, and Tony Castonzo. Frank Gore and Frankie Gore, Dwayne Allen and Duane Allen. Colts Defense and Pony Defense. Preseason game against Ravens. Great. Preseason game against Eagles. AWFUL! Why? I just don't get it? Back to the Dungy Era, our teams were great, they were predictable too. We always had a general sense of what teams were going to be easy for us and which would be hard for us. This Regime its heads or tails. We beat ourselves. It never actually feels like the other team beats us. Dungy era it always felt like the other team beat us. Maybe its a good thing??? but man is it annoying to see year in and year out....

INJURIES! Who the EFFFF is our training/medical staff? Fire them all. I have a bad feeling this year is going to be like last year, and the year before that, and the year before that... when it comes to injuries. Jeez Luis. Someone fix this!

Last but not least. The oline play. Again Ravens game= GOOD. Eagles game=BAD. I am trying to stay optimistic, because I did rewatch the Eagles game and for the most part our Oline did do a pretty good job on certain plays. Like really good pockets. But other plays there was flashes of last year. Not even against major blitzes either. So hopefully the oline gets through these so called growing pains and becomes the oline that I envision them being. BTW Mewhort is a better left tackle than Castonzo on Madden haha. Mewhort is a beast. Kelly is also a better RT than center on that game and just barely worse than Reitz and Reitz is an 80 at center. If you make these changes the colts OLine is REALLY good on Madden.

Topic #2: Corners and me playing GM

Ugh... Well. I kinda thought by now TJ Green would be playing some corner by the way things went injury wise. He's not. Another reason we should have maybe drafted someone else there or gotten a corner last year (George). I like TJ Green btw. Just saying I think we wanted Alexander and with him being picked moments before our people scrambled more than they should have... Anyways...

We need corners! Trade for someone maybe? Idk. Pick up Browner? Yes. It can't hurt. For what it is worth I did this trade in Madden:

Anthony Castonzo and a 3rd round pick for LeVeon Bell.

Vontae Davis for Jaylon Smith

Then I got a corner... Forgot his name... but he was only 25/6 I think and was an 81/99 overall to go with Patrick Robinson and our young guys. I traded DeQwell Jackson for this. I picked up Delmas for Safety/DB help.

I then looked for opportunity for Frank Gore and Trent Cole, Haven't found any suiters yet.

In our realistic situation, I am thinking sign Browner, Give TJ Green experience at Nickel or just Corner in general this last preseason game. Just in case worst case scenario he actually has to do that in a game. Djoun Smith give him steroids or something or start trying to find a genie to grant him better athletic abilities. Idk. We really should have drafted corners this year or last. Also for what its worth, we could have gotten a corner instead of Dorsett then this year get Dorsett 2.0 in Braxton Miller.. But now hes with the Texans... Waste of talent going their with Ozzy.

Topic #3 Wide Receivers look good. #80 Tight end looks 1000 times better than Fleener and I dont even know his name, never mind I do.

Love what I saw in all these games from a play calling standpoint. Wide receivers are running at all depths. Runningbacks seem like they know what to do when it comes to check downs and/or to block that play. The offense seems smoother. Still learning and still have a lot of inconsistencies mentioned above. But deff looks smoother overall. Screw you Pep! Lets go Chud!!

Topic #4: Kind of like Topic #2 but just about Paul Kruger

He was a former Raven/Pagano guy....check

He was a Brown... check

Hes got GRIT... check

Signed.

Man Vontae better come back in his 2013-2014 form. We are very bad at Corner and can't even cut a lot of our OLB's bc that position sucks too... ugh! What do we do??

Last and Final Thought. Stick to what we are good at (or at least SHOULD be good at). High Octane Offense. Control the clock offense. Stay on the field. Drain every flippin second on the clock. Watch Peytons old film of not hiking the ball until 2 seconds or less remain. Then defense come out and ball out for 3-6 plays and get off the field. Yes they wont stop the other team half the time. But we just need to control the clock and continue drafting Defense in the next 2-3 drafts. This year could be awesome, but we have to know who we are. and unfortunately that is only an Offensive team. Love our DLine, they will help, but the rest of our groups are just subpar at most times...

Regardless....

LETS GO COLTS!!!!!!!
