Draft - what picks would you change?

Okay it's that time of the year where we got nothing better to do than think about how the draft could have turned out had we been the GM!! Below is my ideal draft for the colts given the actual results. Yes it's after the fact and pointless, but entertaining nonetheless... please post your own version and let's see if there are common themes

1. Luck - nuff said

2. Fleener - could have gone with Glenn, Upshaw, or Hill here. But I think Upshaw lacks measurables to be pro bowler and lots of experts were down on him. Hill is very raw, and Glenn plays guard. Since Fleener has tools to be pro bowl TE, which to me is more valuable than a pro bowl guard, I'll stick with Fleener here. Plus he was Luck's teammate, just makes sense.

3. Trumaine Johnson - It's great thinking about 2 TE sets, but I'd rather have a solid starting CB. Good thing about Johnson is he can play safety or corner, so if he craps out at CB we can move him to safety. Either way he's a long term answer to a position of need.

4. TY Hilton - Still like this pick. Electric WR and return man, haven't had anything like him since Terrence Wilkens, but I think he'll be better than Wilkens. Should be exciting to watch him with the ball in his hands.

5. Josh Chapman - probably the biggest steal of our draft. long term answer at NT

5c. Marvin McNutt - possession WR who will replace Wayne long term. he and Hilton will be great duo for years.

6c. Michael Smith - very fast RB who is a good receiver and could be an ideal 3rd down back. would be good tandem with a power back like carter

7a. Antonio Allen - solid safety prospect who played well in SEC. surprised he went in R7

7b. Tim Fugger - like this pick. good production in SEC as rush backer/DE. provides good depth behind Freeney/Mathis and has physical skills to be a starter someday

7c. Chase Minnefield - take a chance that he gets healthy. if so we could have a starting CB

UDFA: get TE (Koger, Peterson, Bryan) and OL (Nix would be best)... don't need as many UDFA CB's as we signed

That's it, let the darts fly!! and be sure to post your own!

Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

I think we can all say that we are excited about having a different head coach than Jim Caldwell. We now have a coach with fire, passion, personality, and the intensity that will allow him to bring the best out of his players. That man is Chuck Pagano.

We got a new general manager as well in Ryan Grigson.

For the most part those are things to be excited about, and something I think may have gone forgotten a little bit.

I'm excited to see what these two guys can do in the regular season, but I'm even more excited about the things they've already done.

Why does the Defense have to suck next year?

This whole idea that our defense is going to be terrible next year is dumb. I for one (you know too) it will be alot better than last year and especially since that Tampa-2 cushion is gone also. We will get more of a pass rush than last year regardless of how Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis make the transition because the defensive line will be better than last year and we will send far more blitzes. This who idea that our defensive backs will suck terribly and our team will lose games because of that is also dumb. The patriots defensive backs aren't much better than the colts..wait they probably aren't even as good. Don't get me wrong we don't have a stud at corner either but us playing Tampa- 2 defense all game long doesn't help them either. If all else fails we sill have undrafted rookies who actually might turn into something (not betting on it) and Coach Pagano was also a secondary coach so that always helps. The defensive line will be better than last year at stopping the run we have way more talent there. The only two positions to worry about are the inside linebacker spots and how Pat Angerer and Kavell Conner play there. Now with the whole we didn't drafted many defensive players thing we should be happy we didn't. Why draft mediocre players on defense this year in a mediocre defensive draft when we can draft better players in a better defensive draft when we can see what our needs are for the 3-4. We also gave our QB an offense and if he finds a way to play like veteran we could actually win 7-9 games next year (our division still sucks Texans are the only contender). Plus Grigson now has gave Luck an offense to work with. Next year the defensive prospects are complete beasts. There so could you could see a player as talent as Tyrann Mathuei (forgive me if I spell that wrong) fall to the second round due to height issues.

Comment your thoughts.

Andrew Luck > Robert Griffin III

Okay, so as I die hard Colts fan, as you can see from my picture I have a Colts tattoo with Peyton Manning's number underneath, I have been getting alot of heat for being a Colts fan over the last couple weeks.

Why? The reason being is the Colts decision to draft Andrew Luck #1 over RGIII.

Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely am 100% pro Luck, but people bother me because they think RGIII will be more successful and a better QB than Luck. They are both great athletes but as a Colts fan I am biased for Luck, and I want to prove all these RGIII d*ck riders wrong!

So, who else thinks Luck will get rookie MVP ???

Appreciation to Everyone in Stampede Blue Nation.

Over the course of the a few years this site has become one of my favorite destinations while roaming the internet. The thing that continues to draw me in is the creative writing by columnist and fans alike. Everyday there's something of intrigue to read about whether its posted on the front page or in a fan post. The fact so many Colt fans are able to come together and share a passion for the team we root for during the days of fall is wonderful. At times we unite like a brotherhood against those who dare to troll our postings. The SB Nation a long with Stampede Blue developed something that Facebook and Twitter fail to accomplish. They allow individuals with no common background to have a voice that is heard, without knowledge of ever knowing one another. I don't know you and you obviously don't know me, but we share a common bond, amazing right?

Now, at this time in the year its extremely difficult to come up with articles that capture the viewers. So, when people crush someone like the Editor Brad Wells for writing stories that stir the pot of conversation, I question their motives. I personally don't agree on the opinions of every post put on the site, yet I find credit should be given when credit is due. Think to yourselves how many articles some of these men and women have wrote over the years. When the news around the league begins to come to a halt now that things are winding down, how refreshing could you make things for readers on a daily basis?

I'm not a secretive supporter getting paid to spread my believe on all of you. Hell, I am one of you. All I'm asking is we take a second to acknowledge those who work so painstakingly everyday to entertain us. This goes out to anyone who has ever wrote an article on here.......Thank you! Your efforts should be appreciated and people like me will continue to return back to this site to enjoy them.

-Thank you to everyone who read this.

P.S. Give Brad a break, you can only pound sour grapes so long before it turns into a wine.

How Andrew Luck and the Other Colts Rookies Can Win Over the Fans In Indianapolis

Everyone has known that Andrew Luck was going to be the first pick in the draft since he decided to stay in school for another year last offseason. The only question on anyone’s mind was which team was going to get him in the draft. Well, as in turns out, the Indianapolis Colts had the worst regular season in the NFL and had the opportunity to take Andrew Luck as their next franchise quarterback. It looks like Andrew Luck could have a familiar roommate in Indianapolis as the Colts went on to take tight end Coby Fleener with their second round pick. Fleener was Luck’s number one target last year for Stanford and was his best friend off the field. Maybe the two can save some money on movers by packing their things up together and moving out to Indianapolis.

We Have Our Own RG

RG1, aka Ryan Grigson, has done a stellar job in his first draft. After Bill Polian drafted Peyton, he missed on Jerome Pathon with his second pick, and EG Green in his third pick. Steve McKinney was a good fourth pick, but we did not resign him when his contract was up. There is a good chance that at least eight of these picks will make the team, perhaps all of them, plus some UFAs. At first, I too, was disappointed with Allen as the third pick, until you realize that RG1 has taken a major weakness, that is, absolutely no TEs, and turned it into a major strength. Plus, in addition to ability, all of our picks have been described as players of solid character, which pays rich dividends on and off the field.

On rather short notice, our new GM and HC have done extremely well, and I love the fire, the passion that Pagano brings to the team. We desperately need it. Keep the faith, Colts fans, we are off to a very good start!

Addai Joins the Dark Side

Following in the steps of Anthony Gonzales, former Colts running back, Joesph Addai, is reportedly signing with the New England Patriots.

The imminent signing was not reported first by attention-seeking reporters like Adam Schefter or Mike Florio, but instead was reported by an unlikely news source: Peyton Manning. The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) was in Indy because of his charity, the PeyBack Foundation, and informed reporters, including Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star that Joseph Addai was going to sign with the [hated] Patriots.

The report was later confirmed via NFL Network sources.

From J'Addai to the Dark Side.

Why are people hating on Irsay and the Colts

I keep ready these blogs and people are bashing Irsay and the Colts, but never back up any of there statements. I've seen that they think Luck is going to be a Leaf or the Colts will go 0-16 and others statements.

1st off how many games did Peyton win his rookie year. I believe it was 3. I can easily see this years team winning 5-7 games. Vikings, Dolphins, Browns, Spilt with Jags and Titans, and probably a surprise victory or 2.

2nd Luck is far more Mature and smarter that Leaf ever was or could be. He is truly a student of the game. He went to Peytons camp learned from Captain Comeback himself at Stanford and now has Arians who is responsible for Big Ben becoming elite.

All I want is people to back up why they think this team is so horrible. This team is just as good or better than the 1998 Team.
