East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - In a defensive showdown from the Meadowlands, the Jets came away with a 10-7 win over the Giants in an all-New York affair.
Brett Favre played the entire first half for the Jets (2-1), completing 9- of-12 passes for 96 yards. Kellen Clemens went 9-of-12 for 83 yards, while Brett Ratliff was 2-of-4 passing with a touchdown and an interception. Dustin Keller caught three passes for 43 yards and Paul Raymond had a 24-yard touchdown catch.
Eli Manning, like his counterpart, played the first two quarters for the Giants (1-2), going 10-of-17 for 113 yards. Ahmad Bradshaw gained 28 yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown, while Domenik Hixon caught three passes for 51 yards.
In addition to losing the game, the Giants may have lost defensive end Osi Umenyiora for a significant amount of time. He injured his left knee and was carted off the field in the second quarter. X-rays were negative and he will be further evaluated tomorrow.
After a scoreless first half, Clemens opened the third quarter by guiding the Jets on a lengthy 17-play, 72-yard drive that chewed up nine-plus minutes of the clock. However, the Jets had to settle for a 24-yard field goal by Mike Nugent.
The Giants then grabbed a 7-3 lead early in the fourth quarter on Bradshaw's three-yard touchdown run. The Jets, though, pulled ahead with a little over six minutes remaining in regulation as Ratliff, whose interception led to the Giants lone score, atoned for the mistake with a 24-yard strike to Raymond.
