Fact: Marvin Harrison is the Best WR in the NFL

When dorks and general media idiots sound off about the best WR in the NFL, they usually name players like Randy Moss and Terrell Owens. However, if you ask NFL wide receivers and NFL defensive backs who the best WR in football is, time and time again they say Marvin Harrison.

In a recent poll of 361 NFL players, Marvin Harrison came in third as the "Best WR in Football." Terrell Owens was first. However, a closer look at the data showed that the NFL receivers polled named Harrison the best receiver. This poll is similar to another one taken a year ago when NFL defensive backs were asked about who the best NFL receiver was. The consenus was Harrison. KC corner Patrick Surtain explains why Harrison is the best:

[Marvin] just goes out there and gets the job done each and every year. He's not looking for the attention some of the other receivers are looking for. That's how you garner respect around the league: by being a humble person and not trying to humiliate guys. There's competition out there, and guys are working their tails off. So when you score a touchdown give the ball back to the ref. On top of that he's a great player."

You'd think, with all this data showing Harrison as a clear favorite among people who actually know something about playing receiver, that the folks at ESPN would stop all this damn TO and Randy Moss nonsense and instead focus on the achievements of one of the greatest WRs ever to suit it up.

I guess if Marvin insulted his QB, badmouthed his coach, and tried to O.D. on painkillers he'd see more attention from the boys at Bristol.

Says a lot about the "Worldwide Leader," doesn't it?

Surtain's explanation of why Harrison is the best has ZERO to do with ability or receiving. It has to do with the fact that Harrison doesn't rub his nose in it. Congrats Indy you have the most gentlemanly wide receiver in the game.

Jag's Rashean Mathis, who was anointed messiah by the "bristol bunch" after the Steelers/Jags game, probably doesn't think that it's very "gentlemanly" of #88 to leave him in his dust.

Terry Glenn

is better than all of them and thats a fact! I saw Ike Taylor and a few other corners in the league handle Mr. Harrison, but nobody in the league can cover no. 83, that is when Bledsoe isn't laying on his ass.

Terry, are you saying NFL DBs and WRs are wrong?

Also, Marvin Harrison owns Ike Taylor. The opening play of the MNF game last year, Harrison burned Taylor for an 80 yard TD.

then why was Taylor covering him like a blanket in the playoff game. Didn't see Harrison catch too many that game, did you?

If you think that Terry Glenn is better than Marvin Harrison, then anything you say after that is moot. You opinion goes out the window.

Harrison is one the top receivers in football (#4 or #5 IMO) and Terry Glenn MIGHT crack the top 20.

don't just go by stats

which is what you're doing. Go by pure physical talent and its easy to see why I think Glenn is better.

Now if you go by long productive injury free careers, then no. But thats not I view as the best. To me it would be who's tougher to cover one on one. I've never seen a corner cover Glenn one on one, he can beat absolutely anyone, but I've seen corners handle Harrison. Like I said, Taylor covered him pretty good in the playoff game last year.

Terry Glenn is not getting as much attention from defenses as the other receiver on their team. Also, appart from injuries, he's had some personal problems as well. The only receiver 88 can be compared to is Rice.

Glenn has his best year

last year when he was doubled every game. If you don't think teams gameplan more for Glenn than T.O., then you're misguided.

c'mon! Parcells called Glenn 'she'. Why do you think that is? He's not tough and not that good. Ohio State rivals Michigan for producing the most overrated wide receivers.

The reference to "she" was a joke by Parcells and he'd say it about Harrison too if he played for him.

We'll see how your corners do against him. I guarantee if we somehow keep Freeney off of Bledsoe's back, he'll light you guys up big time.

Who is this 'your corners' you speak of. My corners are Charles Tilman and Nathan Vasher. I'm a Bears fan. And Terry Glenn still is an above average WR. I come here to spar with Colts fans cause its fun. Now you are doing exactly what I accuse Colts fans of, overrating their own players.

Terry Glenn is not better than Marvin Harrison and even he would agree with that.

maybe the best wr in the game, TG, will a get a chance to light up Vasher and Tilman in the playoffs just like Steve Smith did last season, that is of course if your D line isn't crushing Bledsoe which they more than likely would be.

I don't call 8 corners a real poll of NFL corners, I think the poll would have been more accurate if every corner would have been polled, at least starters.
