Overrated-Underrated

I'm back after a brief vacation to Quebec, which is beautiful this time of year. Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July celebrations.

Pete Prisco at CBS Sportline has his most overrated/underrated NFL players listed by team. Guess who Prisco has as overrated:

Ben Roethlisberger, Roy Williams, Michael Vick, Jon Lynch, Corey Dillon, Drew Brees, and Edgerrin James.

Prisco's list is a little odd considering, just last month, he listed players like Roethlisberger and James as top 50 players. Most of his rankings were silly, and it prompted us to write our own "Screw Pete Prisco's Top 50" NFL Players List. Prisco's comments about Roethlisberger are the most inconsistent. In his overrated/underrated column, he writes about Roethlisberger:

Overrated: Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is a good player, but you'd think by winning the Super Bowl he's a great one. He still has a ways to go to get to that level. He needs to do a better job of reading the entire field.
However, in his Top 50 NFL Players column, he ranks Roethlisberger 17th overall in the league, ahead of guys like Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, and the 2005 league MVP Shaun Alexander:
17. Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers:  He made big strides in his second season, and we can expect more this season. He's just behind Carson Palmer on the quarterback pecking order for third place.
Um, regarding this, we suggest Pete Prisco make up his mind. When you call someone overrated, that's a not-so-subtle way of saying they suck. But how can someone be overrated and yet ranked 17th in the entire NFL?

Makes no sense.

For the Colts, he writes:

Indianapolis Colts

Overrated: Safety Mike Doss goes into the season as the starter opposite Bob Sanders. But the Colts have to do everything they can to replace him. Doss is a liability in coverage, which shows up in a big way.

Underrated: Defensive tackle Raheem Brock doesn't get a lot of due, but shows up and plays hard each week. He moves inside from end this year, which would seem like a natural fit. Teams need players like this.

No argument here. Doss is indeed BAD in coverage, and Brock has always been underappreciated by the media. He was a 7th round pick by the Eagles. They cut him after his rookie training camp. The Colts picked him up, and since then he has gotten better and better each year.

Mike Doss, on the other hand, couldn't cover my 60-year-old aunt out of the backfield. Prisco got this one right. The others though...

Everyone knows Prisco is an idiot
All you have to do is read his weekly articles throughout the season to realize this fact. I actually laugh at his nonsense on a regular basis.
