Week Five: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Indianapolis Colts- Open Thread

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) at Indianapolis Colts (4-0)
AT
Week Five: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Indianapolis Colts

Location: RCA Dome  Indianapolis, IN

Kick-off time: 4:05 pm ET

Broadcast: FOX

Key injuries: Lots of potential injuries today. OUT are Roy Hall, Clint Sessions, and Ben Utecht. Joseph Addai, Bob Sanders, and Marvin Harrison may not play as well. Dungy may well rest these guys heading into the bye. I don't like that, but it's hard to question Dungy. He said this week he wanted to see how his team faced adversity, and I think he means how will they respond to injuries. Freddie KO will play despite his elbow injury.

For a great Bucs fan's take on the game, head over to Buc'Em and read JScott's fine work. Thank you to the Bucs fans this week who contributed (like Bucsfan) and were not trolling.

Here's to a good, clean game with please no injuries. I'm just sick of seeing good players leave the field on stretchers. Let's play it clean, play it well, and keep the players on the field. Go Colts!

Good Luck Colts Fans
I too am hoping for an injury free game for both teams.
As a football fan I'm totally aware that the Colts have a better team on paper as well as better coaches. Fortunately, they don't play the games on paper, they play games on the field. With this being the NFL, upsets happen every week, why not the Bucs beating the mighty Colt?
I didn't come to this board to offend anyone and sincerely apologize if I did, but very few of you are willing to engage in any meaningful football discussion, just critiques of my posts.
Anyway, unlike fans of other teams who come to our blogs and talk doo doo, I will come back to your board if the Bucs lose to eat some crow and take my lumps. I do expect a closer game than the spread. Good luck Colts fans!!!

by Bucsfan on Oct 7, 2007 11:39 AM EDT reply actions

Good luck to your team...
The football fan in me likes seeing good, close games, yet the homer in me likes seeing my Colts win in blowouts.

I think it should be a good close game, because that just seems the way we play.

Oh and good luck to the Browns, because DAMN the Pat talk is getting annoying.  31 other teams in the NFL, ya think they could spread the love around at ESPN.

And Screw Comcast and Screw NFL Network.  I was paying for the sports tier to get the NFL Net, but then decided it wasn't worth it for the few games on it.  Plus they were entertaining at first, but after the preseason they just seem like ESPN.  Why you have to pay extra for NFL Network yet get other crappy channels standard is beyond me (really, who needs a golf channel?  Or a golf channel in HD?)

Go Colts!

Go Colts!

Tony Dungy
Here is a story in The St Pete Times about Tony Dungy, it is selfless acts like this that illustrate why Dungy is so loved and respected in Tampa

NFL.com has Addai, Harrison, Moorehead, Sanders and Keiaho all out. Don't know who the hell's going to catch the ball for us now, but here's hoping we can pull out a win with a skeleton crew.

Freeny
Donald Penn is making his first NFL start at LT. The Bucs need to double Freeny

by Bucsfan on Oct 7, 2007 4:24 PM EDT reply actions

Penn so far
The 1/2 sack by Freeney wasn't his fault Freeney looped inside. Penn got dominated on Freeney's tackle for a loss, though.

you know, sometimes it's good to hear other fans from teh NFC who don't see him every week say that. Sometimes I think we Colts fans are incredibly spoiled by the level of play that we see from our QB every week. To us, sometimes it's ho-hum another 300 yard, two TD brilliantly managed game. We gotta remember just how spectacular that is.

If you don't count
Dawson, who just received the ball through passing for the first time, the Colts guy with the least yards receiving is Fletcher with 25. The guy with the most in Bucs is Galloway, with 23. That's something, right? The Colts D is playing great, or the Bucs offense is yet to come in game?
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone

by MerryGoByeBye on Oct 7, 2007 6:05 PM EDT reply actions

Both
The Colt D is playing with a lot of intensity, very impressive. The Bucs O misses LT Pettigout and 1st and 2nd string RB's, they are not in sync at all.

by Bucsfan on Oct 7, 2007 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep
The Bucs are clearly missing those guys. I think that is a big reason for the Colts dominance today. The Bucs try the rush game, don't get much, so the Colts D wait for the passing game. Then the Bucs don't get the first down, give the ball back to the Colts, who are scoring in nearly every drive.
Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone

by MerryGoByeBye on Oct 7, 2007 6:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Colts are a machine on offensive
That is why the Colts are winning the game, the Bucs can't stop them. The colts D is also playing extremely fast, the backups are doing a good job, it is keeping Garcia off balance. Injuries hurt the Bucs, but the Colts have way more hurt, so that is not an excuse.

by Bucsfan on Oct 7, 2007 6:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I think that
The Colts this season are much better than last season. Don't know exactly why. The offense give the impression that when in perfect conditions could score a TD in every drive. Also the D is tighter. But I think that the biggest difference is the SuperBowl. That may have increased the confidence in a very good way. That fear of never winning it may be gone. I don't know, maybe what I'm talking is shit. Garcia is a very nice QB, and the Bucs have a solid team. Winning this game would be great for the Colts, I mean, beating a good team without 3 of your most important players is always great.

Colts beat Bucs
It was really an awesome game. You have to consider the Colts as THE best team on NFL today, I mean, they beat Tampa 33-14 with Marvin Harrison, Joseph Addai and Bob Sanders sitting on the sidelines!!! Now that is what I call impressive. It was like Peyton was just messing around with them. Some people think the Patriots will be champions this year, I say the Colts repeat! I also found some NFL odds about which nfl team will go undefeated this year. This was way back when green bay was still undefeated. Anyway, the patriots are listed as favorites and the colts as the second pick. I think they have a pretty good chance this year, i'm still pissed off when they lost in 2005 after being 13-0
