Brain... still... processing

Photo: AP
It is past midnight, and I have no intention of sleeping. I'm sitting here, drinking a beer, answering emails, texts, and phones calls congratulating me. My best friend from when we were six years old called from San Diego, screaming out loud with joy. It is all crazy. I can only imagine what downtown Indy looks and sounds like.

It's all very surreal; very pleasantly surreal. I almost can't put into words my feelings. It is as if all the tension in body were swept away. There is nothing but joy. This is the power of sports.

For a brief moment, all life worries melt away, and all I care about is my Colts are now champions. Tony Dungy is a champion. Peyton Manning will now go down as one of the best QBs ever, if not THE best. The city of Indianapolis has its first real major championship. Jimmy Irsay got to hold up that trophy.

It's all so wonderful. That's the power of sports. Worries wash away, for a time, and all that matters is the Colts are now the best team in pro football.

Enjoy.

So...
are we supposed to get used to this "winning" feeling?

:)

Not the end of the "but if's"
I could not believe my ears last night watching ESPN when one of the commentators said of Manning," Yes this was an important great win for him and he feels   finally vindicated, but, can he do it again? It is the same old thing, he can't win the big one, now it's he can't win the big one again.

It is like a dream...
I have followed for years, yet this feeling is unreal.  The final game is THE final game... we won.  I am so calling in to work tomorrow because I have yet to stop celebrating!!!
Go Colts!

This sucks. (for me)
Now I'm jealous of you guys. Man I wish my team had won the Super Bowl last year. Still I'm glad your guy's team won. Once again, congratulations.

Hey BBS
where'd you get that picture of Manning and Dungy?

by Coach Owens on Feb 5, 2007 12:57 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Unbelievable
Congratulations everyone,

It's about time.  I (just like many of you) have followed this team for years, from 3-13 to Super Bowl XLI Champions!  I am so proud of guys like Jeff Saturday, Peyton, Coach Dungy, Marvin, Reggie, and Dominic; guys that have put in hard work year after year.  This is a great time for Colts fans and the city of Indianapolis, I look forward to the upcoming years of Colts' football and the legacies that will surely follow.  Once again, congratulations everyone, we did it!!

GO HORSE!!!!!!

Congrats BBS!!!
I know exactly how you feel and can relate to every word you just wrote.  I'm a HUGE St. Louis Cardinals fan so about 3 months ago I went through exactly what you're going through right now.  And trust me, you probably won't sleep for a few days.  Enjoy it, man!!  It really is the greatest feeling in the world (not counting marriage or having a kid)!!!

well.....
not really screaming, makes me sound like a girl :) but yeah, yelling with joy. unbelievable, i still remember the 1-15 season in '91 when the only joy we had was the win was against the jets and we got $0.01 hamburgers at mcdonalds.  it's a great thing for the city, no pro championships in forever until today.

great team, great (although painstaking) season.  they worked their asses off for it and they deserve it.

OT...
did anyone check out the Patriot's SB blog lately?

The guy hates us... with a passion.

Go Colts!

Yes, he does
So what? Who cares what he thinks?

I agree BBS
The one thing, and it was a pretty big one, that Pats fans had over us was our team never won the big one.  I am sure it is a dreary morning in Foxboro realizing that this is no longer a fact.

Uhmm
I posted a diary earlier to say this but apparently it's no longer there (bigblue, did I say something bad?).
I promised I would show my face and pay my dues if the Colts won.  Well, you did and congratulations.  You really pulled it together impressively in the playoffs and put on a good performance in the big one... ..should we call it the "Colts Game" now? Just kidding.
It's safe to say that Dungy and Co. assumed control in the 2nd and never really let go.  Enjoy the celebration and here's to hoping we get another shot at you guys next year.
It was a Classy game, which I can appreciate as a purist, and thanks for letting us Bears fans take part in discussing the game here.

ah, good
it was "congrats" but it doesn't matter since I said the same thing.  I just wanted to make sure that my talk the previous week, meant to be fun and such, wasn't offensive.  Glad it wasn't.
Again, good game and good season.  oh, and good blog.

I'm guessing ...
You ran into the dreaded "one line" rule. I've almost accidentally not submitted a diary before because of that stupid rule. It seems to think you need about 8 lines before it's met it's requirement. It's a little strict.

Global accounts are being discussed, though I have no idea as to the specifics.
