2007 Schedule Released

Here it is. Some key games:

Colts open the season at home Thursday, Sept. 6th against the New Orleans Saints.
New England Patriots visit the Colts Nov. 4th. The game is on CBS.
The very next week, the Colts have to travel out to San diego to play the Chargers. The game is on NBC.
Dec. 6th, the Colts travel back to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.

Tough, tough schedule folks.

Yeah

They always bust our balls with back-to-back tough AFC games in the middle of the season. Last year it was Denver and NE and this year it's NE and San Diego. At least the NE game is at home. I'm a little worried that we play at Baltimore, at night, in December. Would have liked to have seen that game earlier on the schedule.

Tough?

Looks pretty light to me. Other than the New England, SD games back-to-back, there aren't any subsequent tough games.

Not like some of the other stretches I've seen in past years anyway.

My prediction for next season:

vs. SAINTS - W (Not so hard, NFC opponent anyway)
vs. TITANS - W (Not quite there yet in AFC South)
vs. TEXANS - W (See Titans)
vs. BRONCS - W (Close game, 3 pts?)
vs. BUCS - W (Clear win)
vs. JAGS - W (Blowout)
vs. PNTHRS - W (Blowout)
vs. NE - L (First real hard game of season)
vs. SD - W (Rebound against the bolts)
vs. KC - W (LJ gets 200+ yds, colts still win)
vs. ATL - W (Harrington starts for Lions South)
vs. JAGS - W (Close game)
vs. BAL - W (Close game)
vs. OAK - W (Resting starters, still win)
vs. TEXANS - W (See above)
vs. TITANS - W (See above)

Disagree

The opening against the Saints is very tough. NO is a good team and Drew Brees has had field days against the Colts.

The AFC South is not the division we have grown to love and dominate. The Broncos game is certainly no cake walk, nor are the Panthers. Going to Baltimore in December will not be easy either.

It's not an impossible schedule, but it is certainly tough.

That's why ...

I picked the AFC South games as close. If you account for my "close calls" you come up with anywhere between 15-1 and 12-4 .... how is that not fairly realistic? Other than the Saints/Panthers, I picked every game you mentioned as close.

No NFL game is "easy", but relatively speaking, those were my thoughts.

That seems a bit insane to me. I'd love for it to happen, but 13-3 or better looks tough from what's on paper here.

schedule

our schedule has been tough for the past few years, so this is no different. colts have to stay focussed and hope to avoid any major injuries.. i doubt anyone would have winout that 3 game road with NE and broncos as two of the opponents....

that being said, i don't think the chargers or ravens are as big a threat as is being made out. these are both teams that played lower seed schedules last year, let's reserve judgement until we see how they handle a much tougher sked... chargers in particular may be screwed this year after all the coaching changes.

our division worries me more than other opponents. the jags have a hard on for us, and both the titans and texans should be improved teams this year.

15-1?

I never want my Colts to lose a game but there is no way we are going 15-1 next year. I would love for PaytonMenning to be able to tell me "I told you so" at the end of the season but it is not going to happen.

To add...

to say that any NFL game is not tough is a dangerous statement to make. I think people, and we as Colts fans, forget how hard it is to win in the NFL. We have been somewhat spoiled in recent years and we think that a 12-4 or 13-3 record is our birthrite. That being said, I would be very happy with 13-3 this year.

We're good

and should find a way to win enough games to win the division again, but this schedule is no cake walk. A quarter of the schedule is against legitimate Super Bowl contenders (New Orleans, New England, San Diego and Baltimore). KC, Denver, Carolina and possibly Atlanta all have playoff potential. Any letdown against young, improving Tennessee and Houston teams can result in at least one loss (see last year). The only games that I would say should be locks are TB and Oakland. Plus, of course, every opponent (especially the weaker ones) is gonna ratchet up its game for the Super Bowl champs.

That said, I also look at the bright side. This schedule will force us to remain sharp and focused throughout the season; there's no easy stretches. Hopefully that will help us avoid the ubiquitous post-SB letdown. And when we get to the playoffs, we'll have already proven that we can beat the good teams.

Only one game on Monday Night Football... and it's not even in the Dome?????? I know we get the opener, and a couple of Sunday Night games, but they're all away. Complete BS. I guess the league knows we rarely lose at home, so they put us on the road so it doesn't get boring :)

Nice

As always, the Cowboys get viewers because they're the Yankees of the NFL, in that people will watch them hoping they get beat. People will watch the Colts because they're the most fun team in the NFL to watch play due to their skill players. They're also the most perenially successful team in the league, alongside the Patriots, which means they're always interesting. Dallas's domination of ESPN's media coverage, their outlandsish owner, their idiot receiever, and the hard on the NFL has for the NFC East, means they get lots of nationally-televised games. Me, I'd rather watch the Colts, Pats, Chargers, Ravens, Bears and Eagles, then maybe the Belt Buckles.
