2007 NFL Draft Live Blog Part 2
![]() |
Yep, still live blogging. Players on the board the Colts could take at #32: Jon Beason, Paul Posluszny, and maybe, maybe Robert Meachum.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]: Panthers take Beason. Eagles are on the clock and will probably take a Chris Houston.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:Good God! Philly just made a trade with Dallas. Cowboys are now on the clock.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:MasterRWayne can now relax. The Colts won't take Purdue star Anthony Spencer. The Cowboys just did. My question here is where does last year's pick Bobby Carpenter (a player similar to Spencer) fit in now?
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]: Um, WTF is up with Kornheiser leaving the draft after Quinn was picked. Isn't he supposed to be PAID to comment on things like the draft. I mean, where did he have to go? Where did he have to be? In the world of sports, NOTHING else is happening today besides the NFL Draft. Yes, there are NBA Playoffs. Yes, there is NASCAR. All secondary to the NFL Draft. I can understand leaving after pick #32, but leaving after #22? What a punk!

Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:Patriots traded their #28 pick with the 49ers.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]: Lost in all the Brady Quinn talk is how far DT Alan Branch has fallen. This guy was a projected top 10 pick, and here we are at the very end of the first round, and he's still there nad NO ONE is talking about taking him.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:SD Chargers rrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaached for Craig Davis. The Colts are one pick away from their selection! Finally! I've been waiting 6 hours for this.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:Looks like Chicago is going to take TE Greg Olsen. This means the Colts have players like Poz, Chris Houston, Alan Branch, and Dwayne Jarrett to choose from. Nice!
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:The Colts are on the clock, folks!
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]:DraftTek.com is saying Alan Branch is the player the Colts must take.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]: I'm creating a new thread once the Colts make their pick... if they don't trade.
Update [2007-4-28 18:19:57 by BigBlueShoe]: With the #32 pick, the Indianapolis Colts select Anthony Gonzalez.

you've GOT to be KIDDING me
let's see.... our choices were
a solid CB
*a stud LB
*a tough DT
*a slowish slot receiver with good hands
Our defense is our weak spot....
YES! Let's pick the WR!!!
F** you Polian. You are a great GM but this is freakign STUPID.

well, i'm glad we got that out of the way
The "slowish" tag can be replaced with a different tag, "toughish." Gonzo reminds me of Hines Ward, that is just finding a way to get the ball in critical situations. Troy Smith looked for gonzo when he was in trouble and on third downs. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he was an awsome downfield blocker, like Ward.
I think this is a good pick, but maybe a little early.

I can't agree
LB. We NEED a Linebacker. We need a good linebacker like a man lost in the desert needs water, because Keiaho and Gardner are not the answers.
DT. We've lost serious depth due to injuries and free agency. We need a solid body to line up next to Booger.
CB. We've only lost our two starting CBs and are thin there as it is.
WR was a secondary need. Are you telling me there aren't any "toughish" WRs with good hands that can be solid contributors in the slot that will be available in the 3rd round? It's not like GOnzalez is going to be the focal point of the offense. Hell, he's going to be the #4 option most of the time with 88, 87 and 44 ahead of him.
I CANNOT be convinced that this was a good pick. this was a BAD pick, plain and simple. Two stud LBs had falled to where not many thought they would be available, and hell BRANCH was still there.

we have 2 pics each of the next 3 rds.
I have a feeling that Polian knows what he's doing.
Man, our O is going to be sick!!!
I bet the spotted kitties didn't want us to draft a WR.

WR makes sense
yes we need some depth and players on D, but we have done well picking lower down... bethea, keiaho (have i spelled that right?), hayden. i don't think we are as badly off as people think...
