THE SKY IS FALLING... and Randy Moss got traded to the Patriots too

That which you smell is Desperation, a new colgone by the New England Patriots
I'll allow you all the opportunity to freak out and scream at the fact that WR Randy Moss was just traded to the New England Patriots.

"OH MY GOD! Brady's going to have Moss to throw to now! Sweet Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! We're doomed I tell you! DOOOOOOOOOMED! Just hand the trophy to New England. Why even play the season!"

Folks, here's my take on this: This changes nothing. Randy Moss is a lazy, stupid, weak player that will often take plays off if he just doesn't feel like playing hard. While he brings a tremendous amount of talent to the Patriots, there is a reason he has essentially been kicked off two teams.

The arrogance of the Patriots is that the "winning" environment of New England will turn Moss around, that the leadership of Belichick, Brady, Bruschi, and Harrison will get his head straight. Sorry Patriots fans, but it ain't going to work. Moss will continue to take plays off, piss off teammates, and rely mostly on his talent (and not hard work) when he plays.

This offseason has smelled of desperation for the Patriots. They have spent a lot of money on free agents, which is something they have never done in the past. In fact, the past few years, Patriots fans laughed at other teams for making big free agent splashes (like the Colts when they got Simon and Vinatieri), saying that building from within was best, not free agency.

Amazing what an 18 point second half choke job can do for a front office's physique.

So, from a talent standpoint, the Patriots really upgraded their WR position. However, football is so much more than just talent. This is why less talented WRs like Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Torry Holt, and Hines Ward are BETTER than Moss. So, the Moss trade will make big headlines and will fire up the Patriots fanbase. Good.

It will maing kicking their butts again all the sweeter.

Unreal, Blue.  Mortensen just reported Moss ran a 40 in 4.29 this past week.  Good luck covering him with no corners.  Desperation?   Please.  JUSt filling our weaknesses which Manning exploited last year.  Moss acts up, he WILL be released.  When we win the next two Lombardis, that will be 5 for Brady and 1 for Manning.

BTW, the United Way spot on SNL with Peyton was brilliant.  I watch it once a week.  Also, no way do the Colts beat the Pats next year.  You did NOT fix your defense in the draft or free agency.  In fact you got worse losing people.  True, our defense collapsed due to injuries, and age but we fixed that problem.

retirement?
I was all over this place after you beat us in the AFC Championsship and congratulated you.  I also congratulated you guys after you won the Super Bowl.  Unfortunately, it WILL be one and done.

Retirement
I consider you retired because you haven't been around as much as you were last season this time. Now that Moss is traded, and the Pats have made some serious splashes this off-season, I expect to see you around here more often to talk a little smack (and to call me out if I state of things wrong about the Patriots). ;)

sure...
believe it.  2 more super bowls.  Colts were one and done...write it down.  Desperation?  Please.  A fourth rounder for one of the premiere receivers in the game?  No risk situation.  Enjoy trying to cover Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Watson with no corners whatsoever...

by InBradyWeTrust on Apr 29, 2007 1:11 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Additionally...
You guys are ridiculous.  Last year you all creamed your jeans over the signing of a kicker.  Any time the Pats make moves to shore up their weaknesses it is always DESPERATION.  please.  Get a grip and cal it what it is.  A brilliant move and grand theft.  I guess Thomas, Welker, Stallworth were all desperation moves, right?  Not filling our holes.  Well, your defens also gave up 30+ points to us with the second tier receivers we had.  The Colts put up a ton of points on us because we had no linebacker that could cover. Fixed that problem.  Good luck next year.

06 Redskins fixed problems as well
With similar acquisitions of Randle El, Brandon Lloyd, Adam Archuletta, etc...

Pats are following the the blueprint to success, ha?

Um, yes...
I think we have a better overall team?  Think So?  You are comparing Randle El to Moss?  You Colt fans are high.  Final score:  Brady 5 rings.  Manning 1...

BTW, Moss restructured.  He said it was the ONLY team he was willing to do it for.

comparing
Randle El, Archuletta and Brandon Lloyd to Welker, Thomas and Stallworth?  Wow, you guys are brilliant!  Check out every article you want.  Who are the favorites to win this year?  All say it was a brilliant move.  Oh, another thing.  Adalius Thomas, Stallworth, Kelley Washington ALL took less money to come to New England.  Hmmmm...

by InBradyWeTrust on Apr 29, 2007 1:56 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Are these
The same "experts" who picked the Dolphins to win last year?  Brag all you want.  Your linebacker still can't cover Harrison, Wayne, Clark, and our new slot receiver.  You can win the "offseason" all you want.  It's what you do in the regular season and playoffs that counts.  Patriots just went against everything the have stood for for the past several years.  You are now the Yankees, Redskins, and Red Socks of the world.  I hope your spending spree works out.  We'll see you this fall.

by the21eraser on Apr 29, 2007 2:08 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No
with your defense?  good luck.  Shows how bright you are.  The reason you beat us in the AFCCC is because we did not have a linebacker who could cover the middle.  Um, I think Thomas can handle that.  Good luck even making the playoffs.  Your division is getting tougher now.

And, the same genuises picked the Colts at the beginning of the year last year.  They were right, weren't they???

by InBradyWeTrust on Apr 29, 2007 2:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sometimes we are high, but you should be too
At this time last year, no one criticized the Redskins for making those free agent moves either. Most people looked at them as a playoff team that got a little better by signin others' leftovers.

See the comparison? or do you need to be high first to see that?

As far ast us not getting better, we'll just have to see how that plays out. It's only downhill for us, right?

ONE AND DONE...enjoy mediocrity guys...it is staring you in the face.  WHO is playing linebacker?  Who are your corners??

by InBradyWeTrust on Apr 29, 2007 2:18 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

THE NFL...
didn't know our LBs or our Corners before the 1st game of the playoffs last year. We'll just have to introduce some more guys to the mix.

By the way, you should remember 2 of our corners. Since one of them ENDED YOUR SEASON, and the other one, you watched score on a pick in the SB. Maybe you're the one who's high. Seems like your memory is a little out of whack.

Here's 2 names: Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden.

What else do you want to know?

I'll be more than happy to refresh your drug filled mind.

LOL!
Touche on the cornerback comment...I was thinking the same thing.  One of those cornerbacks, Jackson, caught Brady's last pass of the season.  hahahahaha

Comments from MOss...
We hear you were willing to renegotiate your deal to come here, but perhaps not for other teams. Why?
"Because, like I said, they have a massive reputation of what they stand for, and that's winning. Through the course of my career, or the course of my life playing sports, I've always tried to be a winner and going out there and competing. Me having the chance to play with an organization, with a coaching staff, with Mr. Kraft as the owner, and the players they have in position, I didn't think money was a big factor for me. I think over the course of my career, I've made a lot of money. I still have money in the bank. BY me coming to an organization such as the New England Patriots, why would money be a factor? I know I have to get paid something. I knew something had to be done with my contract and I didn't have a problem."

Never heard a player of his caliber say that about going to the Colts...

by InBradyWeTrust on Apr 29, 2007 3:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

LOL, of this caliber?
hahahahhahahhahahahahahahha

So his publisist put a couple of senteces together and we're all supposed to be impressed? He was also extatic about going to Oakland(http://www.raidersonline.org/blog/2006/07/randy-moss-seems-to-be-changing-his.html)
You wanted him, you got him.
But, don't go all, "I didn't know what was going to happen when the honeymoon ends." Because it always ends the same way. Ask cowboys' fans.

wow
i'm surprised by this move.

it's going to be really interesting to see if he'll be the moss of 3-4 years ago with culpepper in minnesota, or the injury-riddled and uninspired player he was in oakland.  i'll guess he'll be somewhere in the middle. it's hard to imagine he'll be back at his primetime game.

either way it was at a pretty cheap price, good move by the pats.

with our losses and the pats gains....this rivalry is going to get very interesting this year. =D  can't wait for opening kickoff already..

Yea
Call it a gift from the people in newengland that we let you win last year...We didnt want peyton to be another marino..So yourwelcome..and good thing youve upgraded your team because i swear youll be able to cover at least one of our recievers..and try to least stop the run w maroney..and yeah..forgot i gues our Defense is alrite 2...Some upgrades here and there...Pats gna DOMINATE EVERYONE.

by Dynasty10 on Apr 29, 2007 9:09 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You know what...
If the Patriots fans over here were as sure about next season as they portray, they wouldn't need to be over here bragging.  You know what, your team finally got smart.  After progressively getting worse over the past few years by letting all of their good players go, they had to finally step up for face reality that their dynasty was over.  I'm happy you got A.T, and have fun with Moss.  If he's lucky he'll get about 80% of the catches, yards, and TDs as our NUMBER TWO RECEIVER.

by the21eraser on Apr 29, 2007 9:48 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No problems with that
The way Tom Brady throws the ball around to the different receivers - I would have not problem if Moss' catches, yards and TDs are 80% of your number 2 receiver - and acually Moss came to us 80% cheaper then your pay your receiver too!

by PatriotsWin on Apr 30, 2007 2:44 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ha ...
There are #1 receivers in the league who don't catch as many balls as Reggie Wayne. Have fun with "I give up" Moss.

Apparently...
They do not have spelling and punctuation in New England schools.  And you forgot to ask us to thank you for the past two regular season beatdowns we gave you too.  Anyway, I am pretty excited...this Colts/Pats rivalry just gets better and better.
