2007 NFL Draft: Day Two Picks

Roy Hall breaks MasterRWayne's heart as he punks this Indiana University DB

In round four, the Colts decided to go defense first and took (shock, shock) a safety: Brannon Condren out of Troy. There's not a lot of scouting reports on Condren, except that the dude runs a 4.47. New Era Scouting stated the Colts were interested in him, and per usual they are right. The other fourth round pick was LB Clint Session, who seems like a David Thornton clone. He's undersized, fast, works hard, and has a constant motor. Linebacker is a big need for the Colts in terms of depth, and hopefully Session can provide some.

In the fifth round, the Colts might have snagged a gem in CB Michael Coe. NFL Draft Countdown calls him, "A guy who quietly emerged as one of the top sleeper prospects in this draft." Coe is strong, physical, and might fit in well as a special teamer or a backup Cover 2 DB. After taking Coe, the Indianapolis Buckeyes... er, excuse me, Colts took yet another player from Ohio State: WR Roy Hall. I guess it is safe to say Bill Polian was impressed with the talent Ohio State massed in 2006. Hall is the second OSU wideout the Colts have taken this draft. Hall is a bit of an off pick for the Colts. He's tall. He's fast. He's lanky. He doesn't run great routes. However, he works hard and has top intangibles. So, maybe they feel they can coach him, because his size and speed are very intriguing.

Keyunta Dawson, a LB out of of Texas Tech was taken with th final pick in the draft for the Colts. He played defensive end in college, but I'm not sure he's a starter or back-up as a LB, but more of a special teamer.

I'll have a recap of the whole Colts draft up later after the SB Nation Sports Report tonight. In short, I'll say this: This is as good a draft as I've ever seen by the Colts and Bill Polian.

Is anyone else excited?

I'm pumped!!! How long is it until we start watching the INDIANAPOLIS DOMINANCE???

My favorite part about NAPTOWN'S CHAMPIONSHIP is wacthing SI's commercials. Especially the oppening line, "HEY COLTS FANS!!! YOU JUST WON THE SUPER BOWL!!!" Sorry, but I just can't get enough of it. I was envious of fans of other teams who got to hear it before, but now it's our turn. We are the CHAMPS until XLII, and then we'll be repeatering as champs. After that, we might have a dynasty on our hands. Can we handle that? Heil yeah....

So I guess I'm a Colts fan now

I wasn't happy with the Colts for getting rid of Doss, but they've completely redeemed themselves with this draft. For what it's worth, in Gonzalez and Pitcock, you got two Buckeyes that were underrated by most of the pundits (in my admittedly biased opinion). I think the Colts took Gonzo at about the right spot, and I think Pitcock will play better than your usual third-rounder.

The general opinion among Buckeye fans is that Gonzo's more NFL-ready than Ted Ginn. He's everything you could want in a slot receiver, and I think he's good enough to be a #2 receiver at just about anywhere that doesn't have Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne starting. He's got great hands and good speed, and he runs great routes. Plus, he sleeps in an altitude tent.

And in Pitcock, you got the best player on the Buckeye's defense. The OSU linebackers were pretty average last year, but Pitcock made them, and the defense as a whole, look much better. I know I'm biased, but Pitcock was great for the Buckeyes, and I can't understand why more people didn't think he was worth a higher pick.

Roy Hall never really impressed me at OSU, though I never thought he was bad. His hands didn't seem all that great, and he didn't play nearly as fast as his combine time indicated. Still, the dude looks like the prototypical receiver, and perhaps with the motivation of playing for a paycheck, he can reach his potential.

I'm guessing you guys know quite a bit about the Buckeyes you drafted, seeing as you're in Big Ten country and all, but if you want any more info about your new Buckeyes, don't hesitate to ask.

Sean, wonderful to have you posting here. Any info you can give us on Gonzo, Quinn, or Roy is greatly appreciated. We are very excited about all of them. The only thing I'm going to say as a negative is Quinn's last name (PitCOCK) is going to be made fun of by every fan in every town for years to come. Example: Pitcock can really penetrate and is very explosive.

I was reminded of a George Carlin bit about how he was upset with the front of the plane being renamed the "flight deck" because he could think of no other word more lovely than the "CockPit" Oh well, call him what ever you want as long as someday we can call him Champion.

Clint Session

As a season ticket holder of the Pitt Panthers, I had the opportunity to watch Session play live several times and I can tell you this guy is an absolute tackling machine. He was clearly better than H.B. Blades, who was more highly touted, but Clint is a player and really brings a load when he hits you, you guys will love him. He was one of my favorite players at Pitt.

loved our draft

Jones took advantage of Phil Savage big time esentially committing grand theft larceny in obtaining Cleveland's number 1 pick next season which more than likely will be very high.

I'm thinking Darren McFadden will look really good in a Cowboy uni.

As for Quinn, there is no question Romo is light years better. Brady was just a system qb who will be a bust with Cleveland, can anyone say Tim Couch redux?

That Quinn's stint in Cleveland turns out better than Romo's in Dallas.

My prediction (and you can hold me to it) is that Romo is done this season. This is the season he cements his fixture as a failure at QB.

darius walker

sure would have been a good pick up with that 7th round pick. We are extremely thin at the tailback position as it stands right now. Walker would have been an astute pickup in my opinion. A deal will probably need to be made at some point for safety sake.
