Bob Long Term

Will we be able to sign Bob to a long term deal?

Star-divide

My biggest concern with all of this Corey Simon garbage, is how is it going to affect resigning free agents next year.  I believe Sanders is in the last year of his deal and by the playoff run we can see the impact he makes on our defense.  If we cut Simon and spread the bonus over the next two years, that is a $6M hit against next years cap.  As far as I am concerned that is Bob's money!  I would rather absorb that entire bonus this year, and have money to work a deal with Bob next year.  Than try to save money against the cap this year and take the chance of missing out on Bob Next year.

Has anyone heard any rumors or plans as to how we are going to address Sander's situation next year?

I'm like you.
I don't know how our current cap situation is, but we've pretty much signed everyone we're going to sign this year.  If it works out, i'd definitely like to see Cory's contract hit taken all this year.  I think pretty much everything is on hold until we resign Freeney.  Once we get him signed we'll have a much better idea what the cap ramifications are over the next couple of years.  If we can lock up Freeney and Sanders we'll be in good shape for a while.

I'm not....
Bob is maybe my favorite player but he's only really played one season out of three. I don't think they are going to sign him to anything substantial if he doesn't play a whole season in '07.  So I'm not looking for any news this year.

injured again
since seems sanders is injured again even before training camp i imagine there isn't any rush to sign him.   is a big risk to throw money at a player who can't play more than half of the time... part of why a favre or peyton are worth the money... they are on the field doing what they are paid to do.
