Kickoff Weekend 2007: 1pm Game Post-Mortems

I've spent most of the day cleaning liter boxes, mopping floors, and laundry, laundry, laundry. It's a normal working Sunday for me. But now that I'm done, it's football time baby! I can now sit down, put my feet up, and watch the Chiacgo v. San Diego game. Good times. Here's some notes on the 1pm games:

  • The Jets have no pass rush. None. Tom Brady stood back in the pocket all day and destroyed them. Randy Moss started after not playing a single snap in the pre-season and caught 9 balls for 183 yards and a TD. Wes Welker, who I snatched up in another fantasy league, did well for me with 6 catchesfor 63 yards and a TD. You can tell Welker is Brady's favorite target.
  • Chester Taylor hurt. Bad for fantasy. However, Adrian Peterson is a complete stud. Sadly, Joey Harrington did not do much expect throw 2 INTs.
  • Titans QB Vince Young throws for only 72 yards, no TDs, a pick, lost a fumble... and the Titans still won. That's how pathetic the Jaguars were today. Yes, David Garrard looked better than Fatty McButterpants, but the Jags rushing game didn't give Garrard much help and the Jags defense surrendered 175 rushing yards to Chris Brown. CHRIS FLIPPIN' BROWN! Wow.
  • Impressive opening day win for the Texans, especially their young defense. The Chiefs looked just terrible. It's only Week One though.
  • 4th quarter in Green Bay, and the Philly returner botches a punt. Packers recover. Massive. Complete. Puster Cluck. Packers kick FG to win.
  • Redskins also kick a FG to win in OT over the Dolphins. Redskins QB Jason Campbell impressive so far.

The Bears D was holding their own...
till the offense made mistakes.  Rex did fumble, but I don't think the interception is his fault.  That receiver totally gave up on the play and didn't even look for the ball.  And wow did the Jets lose badly.  They couldn't stop blitzes, thus Pennington goes down again with an injury.  Wonder if they are going to give Leftwitch a call?

Time for the Giants to pull a win out of the hat and beat the Cowboys!

Oh and isn't it funny that if a Jag says 375 to us, we can now just say 282 in return!  :)

Go Colts!

New England
The patriots were VERY impressive today.
Moss has allowed brady to really stretch defences.
Defensively they were solid as well.

Patriots
The Jets did get no pass rush though. I'm not scared yet. I was kind of hopeing Brady would do that (have him in the stampede blue fantasy league). They are still good obviously but I'm not buying them as a juggernaut yet

Brady
If Garrard wasn't my only backup I would bench him v Colts.

our division doesn't scare me
having the nfl network... i was watching both the houston vs. kc and jags and titans...  none of our division rivals looked that good... How did the spotted kitties give up almost 300 yards rushing...AT HOME  how did the titans only score 13 points with that kind of output..(that's what 78 pass yards will do to you).  If you stop the titans run, vince will NOT beat you with his arm. He looked horrible trying to throw the ball, and for all the hype Schaub didn't look much better..  his defense was the winner of that game.  Garrard looked the best of any of them, and his performance was decent but nothing to scare you...

If we can play back to our opening week, our division rivals have to be very worried, irrelevant of where we play.

week 1
how did we only score 13 points?

on our 1st trip to the redzone, we had 3rd and goal from the 5...vince had no one in front of him and the goalline and was stupid to try to thread a pass into tight man-to-man coverage...we ended up with a FG...vince should have ran it that time...

one another trip to the redzone, we went for it on 4th and goal from the 1....LenDale got stopped inches short...

So 14 could-have been points turned into 3....that's why the score looks low...

RE vince passing against the Jags....last year they had his number...with as bad as his stats looked yesterday, they are an improvement against the jags...

and when the running game is working and a team can run the ball 49 times...i doubt a QB's stats will be very impressive...please go find a time when the colts were able to run the ball 49 times for a bunch of yards and tell me what Peyton's numbers were...i bet they were some of his lowest that year...when the running game is working, no need for the passing game too much...

but don't you think the Jags were trying to force Vince to beat them with his arm?  b/c they were...and we still ran 49 times for 280 yards...what does that say?  surely nothing bad against the Titans...

well
I refuse to read your statement due to the fact you are an ellipsis' absuber.  And anyone who abuses an ellipsis, is never right.
