Mike Vrabel is a dick, and he thinks you are stupid

Members of the New England Patriots were noticeably booed by 53,000 fans when introduced at the Pro Bowl this past Sunday. Since we can assume that Hawaiians are not closet Colts fans, we can gather that pretty much everyone in America, including those that live on an island paradise, think the Patriots are a bunch of classless pricks.

Vince Wolfork, a player fined four times this past season for dirty play, couldn't quite figure out why fans in Hawaii think his team is full of scum wads.

"I don't know what that [booing] was all about," said Wilfork, who assisted on one tackle in the AFC's 42-30 loss.

"Everybody hates you when you're on top. We talked about it and we thought it was kind of funny. But we have haters everywhere we go. Even in Hawaii people hate us."

Ah yes, a bright boy that Vince Wolfork. I guess it would be cruel to remind Vince that the Patriots aren't on top. The Giants, the team that physically beat up the Patriots on their way to a Super Bowl win, are the ones on top. The Pats haven't been on top since 2004, and blown fourth quarter leads in the playoffs the last two years.

Matt Light seemed to take offense to the boos:

"I'm not sure this is the kind of place for boos."
Hahahaha. A funny one, that Matt Light. MasterRWayne, insert Purdue University grad joke here. A stadium with 53,000 watching a game; oh course it was the complete wrong setting for boos. It's like booing at a funeral, a wedding, or at the birth of your kid.

Ah, but neither Matt Light nor Vince Wolfork are the Mr. Sunshine of this rough-and-tumble Pats group. That honor falls to Mike Vrabel. Apparently, in Mike's eyes, the media are the ones to blame for America hating them:

Vrabel, who had four tackles despite a Pro Bowl rule against blitzing, blamed the media for the reception.

"What's written about and talked about on TV, that's the only way the fans can formulate an opinion," he said.

Gee, thanks Mike. While you're down there getting "serviced" by Eli Manning and the Giants offense, you can lick my ass and suck on my boys. For those of us who watched TV from September to February, all we saw was wall-to-wall Pats ball-washing. If Christ had returned from the dead again, he'd have had a hard time getting media coverage, because EVERYBODY was  busy worshiping the Patriots.

We don't need TV to tell us you and your team a collection of dicks. Your words and your actions do a fine enough job transmitting that signal. Between the cheating, the HGH use, running up scores, and playing dirty football, I think we all have a pretty solid opinion about what kind of team resides in New England. We don't need friggin' ESPN to tell us.

BTW: When Osi Umenyiora, the lone NY Giants rep at the Pro Bowl, took the field, he was cheered. Let's see, one Giant and thirteen Cowboys played in the Pro Bowl. Do we need any more proof that the Pro Bowl has a douche bag All-Star selection system?

And do we need the TV to tell us that Mike Vrabel and the Patriots are a bunch of classless punks? No, they do a fine enough job telling us directly.

Pats
So, here's a question. How close are we to seeing the Patriots become the newest iteration of the Raiders? Let's check the list!
  1. "Just win, baby!" - Trademarking "19-0" before losing the Super Bowl. Check!
  2. Steroids - See Harrison, Rodney. Check!
  3. Fanbase somewhere inbetween "obsession" and "cult"? - http://www.townienews.com/. Check!
  4. Obsession with high powered air attack? - http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/teams/stats?team=nwe. Check!
  5. High-profile free agent signings? - See Thomas, Adalius; Moss, Randy; Stallworth, Donte. Check!
  6. No recent Super Bowl wins? - Title free since 2005. Check!
Yeah, it's safe to say the Pats are the next Raiders. Here's to hoping they sink into obscurity and personnel hell sometime in the near future.

yeah look at any Pats website
they've all crawled under their rocks and are waiting for the baseball team that exposes themselves as the best this season. That way they can buy those jerseys and root for the front runners.

So how bout them Colts
I could have sworn this was a Colts site. I guess next year the AFC south will be won by the "Anti-Patriots", cuase right now that's alot of what is coming from here.

Hell, more of New England is over the loss in the Superbowl then some of the people here. Remember, the Colts lost the the Chargers twice, not the Pats. Maybe you should get your perspective corrected, realize that saying "It was the weather" or "they wanted it more" isn't going to cut it next season, rather then looking down at the fallen Pats.

But maybe it's me. Maybe you just want to kick a team when they are down, because you didn't get the chance to kick them when they were up. How about you talk about trying to get that chance next year?

by ZTurgeon on Feb 12, 2008 1:10 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Or mabye
There isn't exactly a whole lot to talk about after our exit from the playoffs besides free-agents and the draft see "Diaries" and so along with this we like to I dunno discuss things happening in the NFL... wait why would we do that?  And besides I do remember alot of fans from a certain organization coming here and rubbing our face in the dirt... so why can't we get them back a little after here about the "Great" Pats dynasty?
Aaron Bailey SOOO caught that Hail Mary!!!

Simple, actually
The Colts are, for lack of a better term, boring. Same future-HoF QB. Pretty much everyone back from a top-5 defense and offense. Still 2nd youngest team in the league, so no speculation regarding impending retirements. They don't seriously dabble in free agency, so there's no real speculation in who we could pick up. No first round pick, so no point in speculating over who we're going to draft (not that we'd know anyway). We're all set in the coaching department. Don't need serious upgrades anywhere. All in all, I'm not sure there's a team in the league that has less questions to deal with this offseason.

Moreover, if there's a Patriots fan that's "over" losing the Super Bowl, they're not fans. Colts fans still aren't over 03 and 04. You guys should still be smarting from being on the losing end of playoff matchups with the Manning family in consecutive seasons.

Also, we freely acknowledge that next year, the Chargers are going to be our main threat in the conference. We already know the Jags, Titans, and Texans will be good. Mostly considering that that's 2/3rds of the AFC playoff teams right there, 1/2 if you include the Colts. The Pats will cruise to an AFC East title by virtue of the easiest schedule in the league, and get stomped, probably in the 2nd round. The Chargers beat the Colts twice because of injuries. Game 1: Manning is throwing to guys that wouldn't start on a D-I college team, save Reggie Wayne, who is always double covered. Game 2: Colts D has a brain fart, can't rush the passer, and lets Billy freaking Volek have the game winning drive, committing stupid penalties along the way to help them out. They won by a combined seven points, and in the first game it took TWO special teams TDs to do it.

We talk about the Pats because it's something to talk about. It's fun to speculate about other teams that may or may not crap the bed next season. Considering the age of that defense, it's not out of the question. Someone over there better make sure Harrison takes his HGH and Seau gets fitted for Depends.

But hey, apparently the Colts are interesting enough for fans of other teams to stop by.

Your Right
Actually, your right on alot of things. I have no issue with people discussing thier rivals on the feild. The problem is that the off feild chatter has nothing to do with it. What the Pats said in a post game interview to a game that doesn't matter in the first place doesn't affect how they will face the Colts next year, but somehow deserves a front page post here.
But I agree the Colts aren't much to talk about this offseason. They have almost all their needs sured up, with the exception of whether Marvin will retire. So talk about the age of the Pats defense, but to go and  keep saying stuff about the off-field aspects of another team just seems like most of the site here seems cuaght up in insults over substance.

Ding Ding Ding!
And we have a winner in the annual hypocrisy sweepstakes! Congratulations ZTurgeon, the "maybe you just want to kick a team when they are down" comment sealed your victory! Because you and other Pats fans would NEEEEEEVER do anything like that, now would you?

I seem to remember you, horseofadifferentcolor, inbradywetrust, lomaz, OneMore, etc. etc. etc. taking many opportunities over several weeks to kick the Colts when they were down, now you complain about the exact same treatment.

Actually, it's not the exact same treatment. What's the difference you ask? Well... this is OUR SITE, idiot! We're not posting this stuff on Pats Pulpit. We're not rushing over there to rub it in. We'll leave that sort of behavior to you morons. So you can dish it out but can't take it, huh? No wonder Belichick is your god.

This is a Colts site. The Pats are our biggest rival. Of course we're going to talk about them. But we'll do it here, where it is appropriate. You should really think about what you're saying before you spout such unbelievable hypocrisy.

Re: Ding Ding Ding!
I don't recall ever doing that. I recall saying that Mannings numbers in the last game were misleading, and that I didn't like him not checkin off of wayne on the last drive and opting for bombs instead (ironically, exactly the same thing that Brady did in the superbowl on the last drive). That's about all I said.
So it's almost like I was offering constructive critism based on gameplay. Hmmm...makes me wonder what this blog is really about when thats considered trolling.
And like I said in the first place, it's a Colts site. So Focus on the Colts. If you want to claim rivalry to discuss other teams, discuss them on the feild where they are your rivals, not off the feild where it has nothing to do with the Colts.

Ding Dong
Well, here was your first comment after the loss:

"Nothing like 2nd string
So, beaten by Billy Volek and Micheal Turner. How bout they try the 3rd string next year, see if they even it out.

Oh, and remember that tieing the game wasn't good enough for Dungy. A long disappointing offseason looks like its on the rise

by ZTurgeon on Sun Jan 13, 2008 at 04:19:41 PM EDT"

This was just MINUTES after the Colts' loss. I could look for more, but you're really not worth it.

Two things:

  1. You trolls really need to understand how these intertubes work. Your words are published and out there for all to see, virtually forever. So historical revision while playing the "holier than thou" card is a very dangerous business.
  2. You seem to believe that the Colts exist in a vacuum, or some kind of Coltopia. But what happens in the rest of the league affects the Colts. Therefore we enjoy talking about it. And when the subject is our biggest rival, who happens to be the most hated team in the league (no, not because you're successful -- let's not start that drivel again), you should expect relevant stories. The vast majority of the articles and diaries on this site are about the Colts and Colts alone. Seriously, look at them right now. However, unlike Pats fans, we can see the world and the league beyond our own team, and enjoy discussing such matters. If you don't that's fine; it's your preference and your business. But this is our preference, our business, and our site. Nobody asked you to come here.
In closing, have a little common sense. You're on a Colts site. What exactly do you expect? I don't think you understand this whole sports blog concept.

Not a Troll
And if I recall, that was said becuase people kept saying the Chargers beat them the first time becuase the Colts were hurt (they were) and the weather was bad, then they go on to lose a team Piloted by Billy Volek, and without the prior years MVP. The Chargers had the Colts number, no matter what the Colts seemed to do. I stand by that.

And I also stand by saying it will be a disappointing offseason. The Colts were one of the two teams who were supposed to be in the Superbowl for the AFC, and they dropped their only playoff game to a hurt team. I say the same about the Packers and even worse about the Cowboys.

I legit like the Colts. I just think that the amount of hate towards the Pats here has come close to ecilpsing the love of the Colts, and it comes off as tacky at best.

by ZTurgeon on Feb 12, 2008 6:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Tacky at best
is coming here to mock Colts fans literally minutes after their loss, then complaining that we're being mean to your team on our own site. Whatever excuse you can think of does not change that fact.

Scoreboard:

You and many other Pats fans: coming to our site to mock us immediately and for weeks after our loss.

Us: Staying on our own site and trying to hold cheaters and dirty players accountable for their statements and actions.

I think we win this debate pretty handily. But I don't expect a Pats fan to understand anything negative about his team, no matter how obvious to the rest of the world.

Don't care about the Pats bitching
Im not complaining that your bitching about the Pats,  I'm complaining that the a site about the Colts seems to have as much Pats news on it these days. I could care less what you think about the Pats, Chargers, or any other team not named the Colts. That's why I come here in the first place, is for Colts news, not Pats.

So how bout them trolls
I could've sworn this was a Colts web site. Yet they all rushed over here after our playoff loss to rub it in and say outlandish things about our personnel while we were down.

Oh, and spent the better part of three weeks posting inflammatory comments to us because they thought they were invincible. It was as if they didn't have a super bowl to discuss, just how much better they felt they were and such.

Oh, and then after dropping off the face of the earth in humiliation after their massive choke job (in a game that never mattered more and where they were two TD favorites), they act surprised that the Colts fans are still dicussing it nine days later (remember they doubled that, and would've continued forever if they'd won the super bowl).

No you are not over it. Don't be in denial. We will continue to periodically remember your arrogance and demise this offseason as we discuss our own future. Thanks for stopping by and reminding us of how glad we were to see you have to eat it.

Not a Troll
I've come here many times and said the Colts do a very good job. First and foremost, I am a Pats fan. Doesn't mean I can't like the colts too. My point is that this is a Colts site, but half the posts and diaries here have turned into anti-pats ravings. It would appear that half of the colts fans have mistaken hating one team, with likeing the other.
It's draft and free agent time, it's about time that every football fan in general starts focusing on that. Colts, Pats, Giants, Everyone included.

I'm pretty sure these guys are all completely brainwashed by Belichick.  The guy constantly fabricates stories and false information just to get a rise out of his team, so it doesn't really surprise me that they are acting naive about this.

I just pray that the Colts blow them out next season.

Pro Bowl Selections
I have no problem with the Pro Bowl selections primarily because the game itself is the most meaningless game in the world.

The selections are based on regular season performances and clearly a lot of individuals on the Pats outperformed the individuals on other teams. Their O-line was outstanding, receivers great and defense held up pretty good too. Same goes for the Cowboys too. The Giants on the other hand stunk it up pretty bad all over except for their D-line which was very good all season long, and which did get represented in the Pro Bowl.

Yeah, Vrabel needs to shut about the "media" driving people's opinions. Before you know it they'll start dropping the "Disrespect" word!! Ha ha ha!

by Bluebulb1 on Feb 12, 2008 8:27 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

hey BBS, explain to me how
having coaches and players voting for the pro bowl team isn't the best system? You want sportswriters to vote?? the same people who bash on a regular basis.

Fact is that the Cowboys are that more talented than the Giants and should have 10 times more players than the Giants. As a Colts fan, you should understand more than anyone that the best team doesn't always win, its the team that plays the best during the playoffs that wins the SB.

by Terry on Feb 12, 2008 9:33 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

gojaogijag
It's pretty obvious the better team wins, otherwise they wouldn't play the game.  Regular season stats and records means jack when it comes down to it.  Your 'boys are pretty good, but they obviously aren't that much more talented than the Giants.

Your Contridicting yourself
It's just the opposite.
If the best team always won, the Pats would be the Champs right now. The Colts would have beat the Chargers. The Cowboys would have knocked off the giants early, then beat the Packers.
You can't say that the regular season means jack (beyond the bye I agree with this) and then say that the best team wins.
Thats why there are playoffs. It's the Team that plays better, not the team that is better.

no, it would be the team that plays better
there's a difference. You really think, especially as a Colys fan that the 2005 Steelers were a better team than 2005 Colts? Hardly.

The Steelers played better and beat the Colts but no way they were the better team, understand?

No, I don't understand because that makes absolutely no sense.  Explain why that team is better even though they lost.

by KingRichard on Feb 13, 2008 8:56 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

When a good team/ athlete loses
on that particular day or in a particular event
they can still be the better team/athlete.
When Tyson lost to Buster Douglas - a fight that shocked the boxing world, wasn't Tyson still the "better" boxer even though he lost?? Buster Douglas was better than tyson on that given night but let them fight that same fight 5 more times and tyson would win 4 of them.
How many times has Tiger Woods lost a tournament?? If I remember correctly he is consistently labeled the "best" player in golf today --- the player that beats him is not the "better" player...he played better than Tiger on that day.
Better teams can lose. It's pretty much a fact in any sporting event. What about overtime in football?? Both teams play 4 quarters and end up in a tie , a coin flip basically decides the winner in most cases because that team will drive down and get close enough to score a touchdown...After playing four quarters all players are tired, winded, hurting, etc...now they have to play another couple of minutes to decide who is the better team??

While I agree,
I'm curious if this belief has always been firmly held by you, or is it coming to you in light of your recent and devastating loss? When the Colts lost that game to the Steelers after a remarkable season and the ensuing tragic loss of Dungy's son, did you argue this on behalf of the Colts that year? Or, like most Pats fans, did you insist that it exposed the Colts as frauds and overrated. It can't be both ways, so I wonder if you've always believed your correct synopsis above, or just all of a sudden.

by coltsfanawalt on Feb 13, 2008 2:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It wasn't
as devastating as you make it sound. While I thought that the Pats were going to win, hands down, I never wrote off the Giants. Yes, I was shellshocked, but I don't live and die by sports wins or losses -- I have a family, a job, and life in general to worry about. I know that there is always next year.  The pats, and colts for that matter, will be relevant in the NFL for years to come and I have that to look forward too..... I married a NY'er , actually am going there this wknd -- I am completely prepared for all the harassment and have already congratulated a number of her friends and family -- some of which are just now very vocal about the Giants (HMMMMM)The Giants won, plain and simple, they made the plays they had to to win the game, the Pats did not--- do I think the Giants are the better team, my homerism won't allow me to do that -- they developed a gameplan to beat the pats and they did it...good for them.  Were the Pats considered the better team when they beat the Rams?? No, they were a feel good cindarella story . Hell, when looking at the lineup the Rams had -- Faulk, Warner, Bruce, etc...I figured we were toast...I had faith in my team but faith doesn't win championships. And, as in previous posts, I have  stated that the Colts are one of the only teams I really worry about during the season, never mind the palyoffs. I even lamented the Colts losing against the chargers, stating in a post how 300 yds and three tds is usually good enough to win games but the playoffs are a different animal. What about the loss of the young Pats player this yr - Marquise Hill ...that got swept under the rug among spygate, hgh, and everybody (i mean the entire nation - not just Indy fans) hating on the Pats)-- is anyone arguing that??

Sounds good
I, too, have a wife, children and an awesome job. There is more to life than football, but I think we all are still passionate about the game. I think that the big picture comes clearer after either losing or winning it all. After our loss, I reminded myself what matters most in life, as I'm sure you did. After we won last year, I found that it's a great feeling, but it didn't enrich my life in any real way. I just wanted us to do it again. Hoosiers coach Sampson recently stated the addage that winning doesn't feel as good as losing hurts. I guess we all can struggle with contentment issues in general.

Without checking, I was just wondering if you were always sensible, or if you were among the obnoxious and ridiculous Pats fans that filled our site with taunts while we were down. Because none of them sounded this way then. Now they are either in hiding or singing a different song. However, that does not necessarily apply to you.

The death of Hill was tragic. It's particularly moving that he helped save his friend's life before he died. I'm sure the team kept him in their hearts all season as they pushed for perfection.

by coltsfanawalt on Feb 13, 2008 3:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not true
The coin toss does not determine victory it OT. I believe the stat is that the team that wins the coin toss has a 57% chance of winning the game. That means when you loose the toss you have a 43% chance of winning the game. Those are solid odds.

gagjojag/
That doesn't prove anything.

Regular season achievements are just that, regular season achievements.  When it comes to the playoffs, you have chance to start anew.  Records are 0-0, all of the troubles, trials, and tribulations that you had to go through during the regular season are over.  No team is perfect, and no team deserves to be looked at as if they don't stand a chance against another team.  Which is why the fact that the "best team ever" got fucking creamed in the Super Bowl makes it even more cherishable.  You even said so yourself, you didn't think the Giants stood a chance.  Why is that exactly?  There was nothing I saw from the Pats all year that said they were unbeatable.  The week 17 game between the two teams pretty much proved to me that they are both on equal terms as far as talent and the ability to play the game, or did you forget about that game too?

Fact of the matter is, two teams are alloted the same amount of time to score as many points/keep the opposing team from scoring points.  So therefore, the team who wins the game is better that game.  Like I said before, they are not infinitely better, we don't know who would win if they had to play 10 times, that is all completely irrelevant.  The whole purpose of a NFL season is to be crowned the Champions, and in my opinion that means you carry the label as "the best team in XXXX," PERIOD.

funny
Nice to see that it isn't just pats fans that are morons and the players are too. Wilfork is such a fatty moron and I love when people use that "people are just jealous" mentality to explain why people do not like them.

Colts players do not get booed and the team is not widely hated. Why is that Vince? They are more successful than you have been the last few seasons. Sheesh.

Love vrabel trying to blame the media when as stated, the media was fellating the collective organization every fuggin day.

It seems clear to me the players simply are clueless about what they did during the season. It is as if they truly don't realize they ran up scores, talked trash, cheated, etc. Amazing...

My opinion will be unpopular...
... but I agree with Matt Light.  The fallen Patriots who showed up to the Pro Bowl are not the ones who should have been booed - those who pulled out at the last minute with "injuries" are.  I'm convinced that had the Patriots won the SB, we would have seen Brady and Moss soakin' up the rays in Honolulu.

Kudos to all of those whose teams finished in places 2-32 for being true sportsmen and going to the Pro Bowl.
