NFL Announces 2008 Kick-off Weekend: Lucas Oil Stadium

Lucas Oil Stadium better be ready to go by early September, because the brand new stadium will host NBC's Football Night in America on Sunday, September 7th at 8:15pm. It's then that the Colts will host the Chicago Bears in a re-match of Super Bowl 41.

The earlier Thursday night game will pit the defending champion NY Giants against the Washington Redskins, who will debut their new head coach Jim Zorn.

Looks like "The Lube" will get an early close-up. Irsay and others must be very confident building will be done by late-August. Tip to torontocoltsfan.

Just drove by it today
Looks like they've got a lot done since mid-winter.  But it also looks like they've got a long way to go.  The roof isn't even fully constructed yet.

Irsay wouldn't let them get too far behind.  That would be a disaster if it wasn't ready.

So who is picking off the first
Grossman deep lob.

Sanders is the favorite, but smart money might be on Bethea since he plays centerfield when they move Sanders into the box. Kelvin Hayden also has bad Grossman pass intercepting experience.

Grossman Can Make His Own Record
Interceptions in a stadium's first game.  I say Bethea gets the first pick, but Jackson and Sanders also get one.  It helps that they don't have Bernard Berrian and Mushin Muhammad.  The only wide receiver on their roster I know is Hester, so Grossman trying to force him a pass will be Bethea's pick.  I want to see Sanders jack up Hester.  That would be awesome.

The Lube
So glad you referred to it as The Lube. I've been calling it that since Mr. Lucas bought the naming rights. If the Steelers have The Ketchup Bottle and the Patriots have The Razor, why can't we have The Lube?
