"We can see whether a guy can run block right off the bat. I can look at five plays on a tape and tell you whether or not a guy can run block. It’s more difficult to ascertain whether he can pass block because you’re not looking at the same talent level playing against you." - Bill Polian This is a selected quote from the WIBC show that Polian did -- the same one that incensed BBS so much. I just thought it was rather telling on the Colts priorities for the offensive line.

"I think he'll play alot. I believe we are going to get back to the two-back system that worked so well for us the year we won the Super Bowl." --Bill Polian on NFL Network, discussing Donald Brown's expected playing time this season(Note: This quote may not be exact as I had to remember it after I heard it 3 or 4 minutes ago. They still haven't posted the interview).

Yet this weekend could be Polian’s biggest challenge. With the Colts undergoing major changes and no certainty about where the NFL’s salary cap is headed, Polian knows he cannot afford a costly mistake— anytime, but especially this year. "If you miss on some high draft choices and you miss on the players of your own that you decide to pay once they’re here, then you can’t succeed," Polian said in February."

Yahoo's Michael Marot talks Bill Polian, the NFL Draft, and an uncertain future for the NFL's salary cap.

Because of the nature of your business, you guys focus on the first round," Polian said. "We're probably past that faster than you can blink an eye and focused on all of the rest of it."

Q: What are the team's draft needs? A: I think you'd have to look at wide receiver, first and foremost. Marvin (Harrison) is getting older, and while he's not irreplaceable, he's been a major cog in our machine for a long, long time and one that we've come to take for granted. That would probably be the No. 1 priority if there were one there. I think you'd look at the offensive line. And then virtually any defensive position but safety, I would guess. Bill Polian makes it clear that WR is the biggest need going into the 2009 NFL Draft.

We have Dan Muir here, but Dan is coming from Green Bay, where the techniques are totally different. It’s going to take a longer period of time for him to get adjusted to what we do. It’s much more preferable to have those fellows in training camp, but Quinn didn’t show up and Ed went off the reservation. It is the way it is, but the bottom line is Dan will take a little while yet before he’ll be completely comfortable. He’ll be in there in time and that will be a plus and Bob’s coming back and Melvin has played well. There is lots of light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, it has been a long tunnel.

Bill Polian answers the question, Is there any help already on the roster at defensive tackle?
