- The schedule for the preseason was announced today. In addition to their game against the Saints in Mississippi, the Colts will play at St. Louis on August 10th, at home against NFC Champion Seattle on August 20th, at Mississippi against New Orleans on August 26th (tentatively scheduled), and finally at home against Cincinnati (dated yet determined).
- The Competition Committee voted to limit prolonged and/or excessive celebrations. It also prohibits the use of the "ball as a prop" in celebrations. I'm sure Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, and Terrell Owens are not thrilled about this. I'm sure no one cares.
- Cato June was nominated by his teammates for the Ed Block Courage Award. The award is for "exemplified courageous play." June is a high character player. He's also one of the best linebackers in football.
- NFL Draft Countdown has updated its Mock Draft. They have the Colts taking Minnesota RB Laurence Maroney with the 30th pick. If the Colts grab a RB like Maroney in the draft and team him with Dom Rhodes, the running game will manage (at the very least) 1700 yards and 18 TDs... which is what they got last year as a team with Edgerrin James. So, instead of one back (James) getting 1,500-plus yards, Rhodes and someone like Maroney will each get 800-900, average 4.2 a carry, and score roughly 7 TDs each. I have no problem with this.
