SB Nation: Week Three

It's week three, and already certain teams are fighting for their lives. A slow start in the NFL can bury a team, making it extremely hard to dig their way out and make the playoffs. Some teams are fighting to stay undefeeated, or they are fighting for divisional supremacy. Despite the fact that the Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, and Cowboys have open dates today, there are several key games slated for action.

Is your football team THIS studly?
If it's blogged at SB Nation, then yes it is!

And, as always, these games offer some enjoyable cross-blogging fun between our SB Nation football blogs. Here's what's on tap:

  • Chicago (Windy City Gridiron) at Minnesota (Daily Norseman)

The Bears and their devastating defense visit the somewhat surprising Vikings. Vikings QB Brad Johnson has guided this once troubled franchise back to the realm of respectibility. They've won playing solid defense and excellent special teams. Chicago seems to have solved its QB problem by keeping Rex Grossman (a Bloomington, Indiana boy!) healthy. WCG at Windy City Gridiron and Gonzo at Daily Norseman will cross-blog this big NFC North match-up. Look for Windy City Gridiron's resident smack talker, Chad, to give some good points during the game.

  • Cincinnati (Cincy Jungle) at Pittsburgh (Behind the Steel Curtain)

Yes, yes, yes. We all know what happened the last time these two teams met. This is a big division matchup. The Steelers were manhandled on MNF against the Jaguars, and they cannot afford to lose to the Bengals at home. Cincinnati is out for blood. They still have bitter memories of that playoff loss, and QB Carson Palmer wants to prove he is 100% healthy. Kirkendall at Cincy Jungle and Blitzburgh at BTSC will cross-blog the game and surely provide many funny moments as these two bitter rivals slug it out.

  • Denver (Mile High Report) at New England (Pats Pulpit)

This is an interesting matchup between two teams that are really hard to figure out. It's not quite clear if either of these teams are as good or as bad as they've played. The Patriots are 2-0, but have not looked good winning against bad teams. Denver is 1-1, but they barely got by KC and got beat by the St. Louis Rams in week one. Denver defeated New England twice last year, including a beatdown in Denver during the playoffs where Tom Brady threw an INT that was returned 96 yards for a TD by Champ Bailey. The Sports Guru at Mile High Report and Tommasse at Pats Pulpit will provide cross-blogging fun all game long.

  • and finally...

  • Jacksonville (Big Cat Country) at Indianapolis (Stampede Blue)

Big divisional matchup between a team built for great defense (Jacksonville) and a team known for great offense (Indianapolis). The Colts are really banged up, missing key defensive starters Corey Simon and Bob Sanders. Kicker Adam Vinatieri is also out. Martin Gramatica will handle kickoffs and FGs for Indy. Jacksonville has been itchin' to smack the Colts around because of how Indy beat them last year. The Jags defense destroyed Pittsburgh last Monday night, and now they want a shot at Manning. River City Rage (Big Cat Country) and myself will cross-blog this slug fest from start to finish.

Week three, and already we have three big divisional matchups and one playoff rematch cross-blogged. With the new addition of Music City Miracles, there's even more cross-blogging opportunites on the horizon. Keep your eyes peeled for more SB Nation football blogs coming your way.
